  3. Wow, Pipa's Mum that is a very pretty dress at a very pretty price also. With your mother's painting it will be absolutely gorgeous. What color will Javier be wearing??

  4. Wow PM..I hadn't checked back since early this morning...what beautiful work your Mom does...thats just amazing!!

  5. Thank you all!
And YES Melon is a male...well not a complete one but a male none the less...

I have in mind pale flowers painted on the rim of the dress, the same flowers I will have on my hair... no veil, I don't like them very much...

Javier will wear a chaquƩ, is that what it is called in English?

  6. How handsome! I believe that's called a Morning Coat in English, but I could sure be wrong about that!

Posted 4 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  7. I think that could be called a morning coat or a frock-coat.
I love the idea of a hand painted dress! It's not only one of a kind but special as well since your mother did the work. Lovely!

  8. You are right... morning coat. I had to google it to be sure. Interesting... the wedding picture on the wikipedia page?? Could be my Grandparents. That's about the year they were married... and the style of dress is just what my G'ma wore.

  9. Oh Oh.... Owlwatcher hasn't written here!
    It's me!!! It's me!!!

    BAWWWLLLL

  10. oh PM, your mother is VERY talented! It's gorgeous! Does she only paint wedding dresses?
    I'm sure you'll be a beautiful bride!

Posted 4 years ago by linda #

  11. The Man's garment pictured is an Evening Coat sometimes called Tails or Swallowtailed coat. Morning coats are similar but the tails are shorter and the color is grey.

  12. Wow, Pipa what a lovely dress and with you Mom's beautiful work, you will be a beautiful bride. Javier will look dashing in his "morning coat". I am looking forward to your special day.

  13. You know, we are one big kitty-lovin' family, ain't we?

Having said that brings to mind a saying we have in Georgia: "You can pick your friends, but you can't pick your kinfolk."

For those of you who don't speak Southern, it means that blood is thicker than water. You forgive your family their foibles just because they ARE your family and you love them.

    I love you guys.

  14. ailuromaniac - thanks for the clarification on the subtle differences on the coat. :)

Posted 4 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  15. Oh yes - Javier will look very handsome indeed! You are going to be a gorgeous couple!

I do think that Pipa and Melon should be involved! Pipa could be the flower girl and Melon could be the ring bearer! ;-)

That said, I did actually attend a wedding where the bride's horse was a member of the wedding party!

  16. It came out of a cross between what does he wear when the wedding is before 4:30 pm and having to costume the entire production of "My Fair Lady" in two weeks on a budget of "you have got to be kidding!"

  17. When my brother wed, the bride's Rotties were there... Bomba in a black tie and ...oh my I forget her name! The little girl Rottie was in a pink bow. They were both at the wedding ceremony - in front of the court house (small ceremony) and briefly at the reception. Until the little girl (still a puppy) who was leashed to the table got a little excited and pulled the table half way across the room... oops LOL

  18. PM, that's a lovely dress in its own right, and will be just exquisite with the painted flowers.

    Posted 4 years ago by Cats4Cats #

  19. *steps into the thread and looks around to make sure nobody is watching her as she sneaks up to the nice clean white wall and spray paints in giant blue letters:

    'OWLWATCHER_974 WAS HERE'

... smiles at her handywork and sneaks back out of the thread*

    Posted 4 years ago by owlwatcher_974 #

  20. Hee Hee, let's see if PM catches that when she wakes up in the morning...

Posted 4 years ago by NNGM #

  21. PM beautiful dress and a special one of a kind--your mom won't be just painting flowers she'll be putting a whole lot of love into those brush strokes

Posted 4 years ago by Cat talk rules #

  22. Cheri's inner child travels thru the wormhole to put "cats rule, dogs drool" in bright red under owlwatcher's blue letters...

    hahahaha

  23. Pipa's Mum, your dress is quite nice all by itself, but your mother's artistry and your beauty will make the entire effect stunning! So few people get to wear a work of art. What kinds of flowers will you have in your hair? Will they be white roses, like those to be painted on the dress?

    Posted 4 years ago by anncetera2 #

  24. *Sneaks into wormhole, shakes can of sparkly magenta spray paint and writes on wall*

"Pobre madre de Pipa y Melon: tan leja de Javier y tan cerca de los escritores babosos!"

Posted 4 years ago by gatakitty #

  25. Oh, PM, that is such a gorgeous dress! And with your mama's painting wit will indeed be a work of art! You will be a beautiful bride! **wipes tear away thinking of the fabulous day to come--don't mind me--I always cry at weddings--even ones I only imagine!)

Posted 4 years ago by rainingwolf #

  26. Pipa,

I wanted to take a moment to comment on your dress selection. That is a beautiful canvas. Knowing that your mother will be embelishing the dress with her beautiful artwork answers the burning question I originally asked in the topic that offered the lovely gown with the extended ribbon re-interpretation of a train and the pricey designer gown. Was your delima that you had not found "IT"?

Whether this gown when you have it in hand for a final evaluation or another:

You are going to have every bride's dream: a truly unique gown.

I am eagerly awaiting the posting of the pictures.

  27. *walks in to my beautiful white walled thread*
    WHATTT??!!!???
My pearly white walls!!! What does it say?
    *squints eyes*
Yay! Owlwatcher was here! and Ginny (sparkly magenta? *giggle*) and Cheri...

To the others that so kindly respect my walls and said nice things about my future dress and Moms paintings... thank you so very much! I will of course keep you all posted. My Mom's business is painting wedding and party dresses for designers but she also does watercolor and oil... For your information she very kindly gave that gift to my brother and I can't paint to save my life!

  28. Good morning PM! Please apologize to MR. Melon for me. I ment no disrespect, but I still think that both Pipa and Melon should be part of the wedding procession. Maybe he could be the ring bearer or just escort lovely Pipa? Just my two cents worth but picture purrfect kitties should be part of the picture purrfect wedding.

Posted 4 years ago by debsterwiz #

  29. Well, here in Spain weddings are all about tradition and my family wouldn't understand if my kitties were involved... buuut my mother has made cute comic drawings of Pipa and Melon and my intention is to have two little meezers hidden somewhere on my dress... to break the solemnity but not seen so my mother approves... you know how old fashioned mothers are...

Posted 4 years ago by PipasMumSpain #

  30. Pipa and Melon playing "Where's Waldo"? I LOVE IT!! Purrrrfect compromise! That is just too cool!
