Cato is having surgery today

(41 posts)
  1. Took Cato in for a allergy shot and regular Program shot. The doctor gave him a physical and discovered a growth under his tongue. Best case it is an eosinphilic (allergy) growth, worst case it is squamous cell cancer (fast and invasive). It is quite small. They will put him out and use the laser on him. He will be able to eat -- of course -- afterwards! I am a bit out of it with worry. Please send some healing thoughts for my boy :) Elizabeth

  25. I've just brought Cato home. He is standing at the door waiting to go out. However, the vet made me promise to keep him in over night. Yikes, don't know how I am going to do that. The vet feels that whatever he had under his tongue was removed with "clean margins." In other words, it hadn't invaded the mouth with lots to tentacles so even if it is cancer there is a good chance it has been removed. So now I keep him in overnight and then we wait until next week for the pathology report. At the moment he is purring and I feel a little better. He was unable to eat his wet food, so I am going to give him his favorite cream cheese and see if he can eat that. Thanks for your good thoughts. I do believe in the power of prayer! Sincerely, Elizabeth

  30. Great news, Elizabeth. That must have been quite a shock to go in for a regular visit and end up with Cato having surgery. He sounds like he is not in too much discomfort. Hope he bounces back from all this quickly--his eager fans await him! :D
