I'm sorry you guys,but,I need so badly to vent again. I don't know whether I feel more hurt or angry. The latest woman that was going to help me try & catch the rest of my ferals is turning into another nightmare. She's told me 3 different times in just a week that she would be calling me to bring over extra traps & just left me hanging not getting back to me.
Numerous traps is the only way they can be caught at this point. The idea is to weed out the ones that are already fixed by forcing them into traps with food only put in the traps & not feeding them in the normal open area way,If that makes sense.
I can't stand looking at the one injured feral anymore. This poor baby's eye is bloody & hanging from it's socket. I've stressed this to this woman over & over. She seems concerned on the phone,then doesn't call back like she says she's going. That leaves me sitting here only imagining the discomfort this poor animal is going thru & having no resourses to trap it & nothing but broken promises from people that supposedly care. I'm just so ready to go postal.
Thanks for listening. I'm taking a deep breath.

I'm sorry you're having such a hard time getting the rest of the ferals, especially, the injured one. Unless there's a particular reason the lady couldn't help (but she should have called), it's not right to volunteer and then not follow through with it.

Oh Susie I'm so sorry...Maybe if you turn into a huge pest to her, she will follow thru just to stop you from bothering her...I'd be calling her over and over, if she said she would be by at 10:00 I call her at 9 to confirm, then again at 10;30 and over and over..just a thought and I know it's not your style, but sometimes the squeeky wheel gets the grease!

I agree LadyKat. And 2b...I have done that. I was persistent with the last woman (the one promising the drop trap)for a month & a half. I finally got fed up with the stress of it all & told that woman what I thought of her rescue practices. Mind you,I haven't heard back from her & probably won't.
I can't imagine why this latest woman would do this as well. I was sure she wanted to help. But this poor feral is in a very dangerous condition & in my opinion is experiencing a slow painful death by infection. I don't know about them,but, I can't sleep at all at night knowing this animal is out there suffering. -
Oh Susie, my heart breaks for you and your feral colonie. I wish you were not on the opposite coast from me! I don't understand people who can let this kind of thing happen and do nothing about it. Some people really suck!! I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as that is all I can offer. {{{hugs}}}

Susie I so feel your pain.
Here's a Humane trap source in San Diego Co,I don't know how far away that is or if they(or someone else) can get one to you but it's an idea.They are available for loan at no charge to the public. <fingers and everything else crossed>

Thanks you guys. Most rescue orgs. loan out only within their own counties. I live in one of the biggest counties in the state of California (San Joaquin County), & you'd think they would have enuf available resourses for rescueing feral animals. But,there is such an over-abundance of ferals,that they never have enuf. When you look at Manteca,Ca. on a map,it's almost in the center of the state. And,where I live,is still quite rural,to a point,that unless you have an emergency with a feral animal that becomes a health hazard to the community,Animal Control won't even come out. I think that is pathetic of them. The traps I've used in the past are basically called raccoon traps. They work well,but,I'm working on one last-ditch effort to try & catch the injured feral & (probably pregnant again) Siameezer by trying to borrow & set up several of them,putting food in only the traps & nowhere else. As the already fixed ones are trapped,I'll just cage them until the others are caught (if ever). I've tried all I can with the resources I have myself here. It's not enuf. So,you can understand my frustration at this latest hope for help seeming more & more grim. Sorry for such a long post. Thank you all for helping me catch some deeply needed breaths. I was starting this morning to feel like I was going to spontaniestly combust from pressure.

Susie,a lot of people really care about you.[[[Susie]]] -
Buttercup, you are wonderful!
When I had help from AZ CATS they instructed me to stop feeding for 2 days (that was the hardest part for me to see their eyes looking at me pleading!)so they are very hungry. Then when you put the cheapest smelly tuna in oil in the trap their hunger overcomes their fear of the trap and you have success.

You all are so Fantastic!! I can't believe the impossibility of getting help in my own county & yet people,some I've never met in person, would reach out & give me,the ferals, the desperately help they need & not bat an eye. If there is a God,you all will be in his front line when time is due. I Love You!!
Sheba's Mom...that's exactly the plan I'm working on to try & finally get these other ferals. I couldn't work in the plan before because of the overwhelming number of ferals that had not been TNR'd yet. Every time I tried,I had all the neighboring cats coming together at once wanting food & it only made for a fighting arena with them all.
I could also use your prayers. Hopper has managed to chase Naughtyboy from the yard. He has not come home to eat in a week. And he'd already been losing weight. I saw him once a few days ago,but,this time could not coax him down from the levee to come home & eat. I couldn't even approach him,which means that he's becoming more & more feral as the days pass. He's the sweetest Tuxie I've ever known & doesn't deserve this. Plus,the injured feral (I've named it Whisper), is braving coming into the yard & staying because it's so hungry. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again. {{{HUGS}}}

Thank you Buttercup for helping out Susie! I hope that she is able to trap Hopper so that she can then trap Whisper and NaughtyBoy. Susie, I will send you an email as well in regards to more traps.

A little update for you all...I had just walked across the street to my neighbor's to see if she might have seen a sign of Naughtyboy. Cross my heart,I'm telling the truth,when out from between the houses came Naughtyboy waling & crying to me. He had me in tears. He followed me to my back yard & after taking a few pets from me,started eating like he hadn't in days. He lost alot of weight from not getting enuf,but,there are no battlescars or ticks or that kind of thing on him, Thank God. Even Siameezer & Prettygirl (his Mom & Sis) came running out to greet him. They both look for him when he's not here. They're all 3 sitting comfortable together out back. Now if Hopper will stay away long enuf for them to have a good visit & nap together,that would be great. Siameezer always gives him a full washdown bath when they're together as if he were still a kitten. She must miss her litters of kittens I've taken from her. I'm so glad they get along so well. Thanks you guys. The pressure I've had has lessened alot just being able to talk about it. Thanks also for your prayers that brought Naughty back home to me. {{{HUGS}}}

Fantastic...Sometimes all it takes is a act of kindness (ie.buttercup) to get the ball rolling..so glad that Naughtyboy is okay..that is so sweet that he came up crying to you..he knows who is guardian angel is.. Enjoy your babies Susie..I know it just started raining again down here, is it clear up your way?

Buttercup, I'm learning a lot from reading this! You know I have my own feral colony and I feed it, and fight the raccoons, but have no place to take them here in Austin if I catch them--and I've been looking for *years*. What do you do with your feral babies when you catch them???
