  1. CM, do you grill your corn in the husk? That's what we do - I soak the ears in water for about 10 minutes and then we grill it. The husks and silk just slide off and then we brush on seasoned olive oil. It is such a good way to fix corn!

  2. Willow and Windi's mom, my mom and dad used to grill sliced potatoes, yellow squash or zucchini squash on the grill. I think she did her corn on the cob the same way. She'd clean the corn put butter on it then wrap it in aluminum foil (I think, I can't remember, it's been so long ago)and grill it for a while. The squash and potatoes, she just sliced them and wrapped them loosely in tin foil and grilled for about 10 minutes, I think. I know it was good!

  3. i seriously need some chocolate after the circumstances with the upstairs neighbors. i'm glad i have some...

i will eat the chocolate and try to rest now. the next few days will not be easy with Squirrelboy, I am sure...

  4. Never tried it that way WMM. I have heard of it but I have always shucked it.
We marinate it then put it in aluminium foil. It will be so good with steaks. I hope Maddie will eat some too. She REFUSES to eat any veggies. Eats all kinds of fruits, but veggies are a no go.

  5. Renee, we grill potatoes all of the time. I slice them, put them on heavy duty aluminum foil and then drizzle with olive oil and whatever herbs I have. I especially like fresh rosemary. Then put another sheet of aluminum foil on top and crimp the whole thing tightly together. We put the foil packet on as soon as we turn on the grill to heat up. By the time whatever meat is cooking is done, the potatoes will be, too.

Grilled zucchini is wonderful with just some olive oil and balsamic vinegar. That we don't wrap. Just halve the squash lengthwise, put directly on the grill and baste with the oil and vinegar. Yummy!

  6. Hello one and all!

Metsa, are you back? I sympathise, I went to the gym today, hard work!

  7. Hi Cheri, I am sorry you had to deal with your idiot neighbors, I hope things work out for you.
WWM, that sounds yummy with the potatoes and zucchini. I never buy zucchini because I don't know how to cook it.
Hi MCW!! How are you this day?

  8. Hi CM! I'm OK, been a bit down the last few days, but trying to shake it off. How's you and bump? Nausea any better?

  9. hello! I'm back! I managed it pretty well and I actually feel good. I think I might go back on Wednesday too.
Sorry to read about your problems Cheri, I absolutely hate aggresive behaviour, well done keeping cool!
Just had a very simple dinner, veggie burgers, crunchy potatoes, and veg. Nice and simple!

  10. I'm back Wednesday too metsa - a beginners aerobics class (and I'm not too good at coordination either!!). I'm aiming for 3 times a week, the Wednesday class, and two general workouts. Then I just need to address my eating habits...

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  11. Lol! I'm the same, I was shocked at how bad my coordination was but the class itself was very good and gentle. I've instigated vegetarian Mon - Wed to try and force me to think more about what I'm eating, helps more when I dont just use meat substitutes though.....

  12. My problem is chocolate - and the fact that a side effect of some tablets I'm on is the munchies! And you never want to munch celery do you?!

  13. Wall - *heave*...

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  14. *ahem* - OK, no wall (doh!)

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  15. My problem is a sweet tooth too - not chocolate so much as kiddy sweets though. They're so bad for me, I alwasy get sugar highs but I just love them so much!

  16. I have been okay MCW. I am still nauseous to no end. Yesterday was the first day that I actually got sick. Everytime I brush my teeth, it's horrible.
I hope you can shake the blahs' MCW...those are never good to have. I get those occasionally. Anything I can do? Got to make you smile :)

  17. See my blog CM - I'm coming off some tablets that I had last year when things were so stressful with Mum, and I'm not sure if *this* is just something I have to get through or not...

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  18. oh okay. That could be an issue. Just watch. At least you are aware that there could be a problem.
If you want you can Chris can come over for steaks and corn :) I know it's a bit late for you to eat, but since we are 5 hours behind, we can work it out.

  19. Thanks! But we treated ourselves to a chinese, (so not good for diets!), so haven't got a lot of room left! Maybe another time...

  20. MCW - sorry you are experiencing the Blahs. I've been suddenly reintroduced to moodswings that I last had in my teen years. It's taken about 12mths since I came off The Pill to get back to 'unleaded' hormones and its an interesting process. Not used to the highs and lows.

  21. Thanks KK. I'm battling a few psychological issues as well, it's quite likely that I have a tendancy towards depression, as both Mum and her Mum were manic depressives - and I have a TOTAL fear of ending up like my Mum. So far both my "serious" depressive bouts have been down to "environment" (what's going on around me) rather than actual clinical depression, but these moodswings I'm experiencing now are pretty erratic, and just a wee bit scary. I don't want to be on anti-depressants long term - to me, that's a step towards becoming Mum - but then so is this rollercoaster. Bah.

  22. MCW, now I am concerned for you! Periodically I have the blahs and they can be nasty, can't they? How odd that you have that in your family, because so do I - on my father's side. I have instructed Andy to feel free to hit me upside the head if ever I act like him. I prescribe going to the nearest flower mart and just breathing. Then go directly to a bakery and get a chocolate eclair.

The gym can wait.... (although, it is great to take out your frustrations there!)

  23. MCW, I hear you. They will have to pry my BC pills out of my cold, dead fingers. When I'm 120 and not a day sooner.

Posted 4 years ago by lisaeylau #

  24. Thanks WWM - I'm back to see my doctor in a couple of weeks, if things are no better, then maybe we'll delay my coming off these tablets. If I have to be on them long term, then I do - and I'll just have to accept that.

My immediate prescription is to head for bed, back to work tomorrow (but then my day off on Wednesday!). G'night all, and thanks for being there.

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  25. ...and thanks lisaeylau!

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  26. KK, are you really all the way around there in NZ? I want to come there some day so badly. Been as far as AU.

Posted 4 years ago by lisaeylau #

  27. MCW, I sincerely hope that our outing will be a diversion for you. Not one more thing that you have to do. I know how that is. Plan on laughing much!!!
