  1. Hi All!

Six of the 7 cats have been dosed with Revolution, so pretty soon all the fleas will be dead as doornails. I love this product!

I was reading the literature that came with the product, and it states that Revolution also kills intestinal hookworms and roundworms. Are either of these the same as the worms that look like little grains of rice? Or do I have to buy a different worm treatment for those?

  2. Have you been seeing some sort of worms on your kits, CW? If they need to be treated for worms I'd do some research on how soon it would be safe to dose them after treating them with Revolution. Maybe the Revolution will do the trick for fleas and worms!

  3. Yes, KW, I have seen the kind that look like rice on Wolfie and on a few of the others. I guess I'll wait a few days and see if they are still appearing.

  4. That is frustrating to have to treat all cats even though you don't see symptoms on all. Pretty safe to assume that whatever one has the rest have. :(

  5. Those are tapeworms, they come from having the fleas so you might want to wait until the revolution has worked. Also to give the kitties a break from the pesticide load.(I know it's necessary but I hate to do it too)

    Apparently they have an OTC treatment available for tapeworm now. It seems like the pill I got for my cats from the vet for this was something like Cestex or something like that,heres the link;

Might want to call the vet to make sure.

  6. Thx Buttercup. I had already called the vet awhile back about the rice-like worms, but the meds for it were so expensive that at the time I couldn't do it. I think it was going to cost something like $10 a pill, doesn't seem like much until you multiply by seven! One month of Revolution for everyone cost over $80! Ah, but what a relief. THe cats are resting comfortably without scratching or suddenly whipping around to bite themselves. I am finding dead fleas on the places where the cats lie down. Gross, but certainly less gross than finding *live* ones!

  7. I love Revolution, too! I'm going to start giving it to Mi, too, because the vet confirmed that Bob can bring fleas in eventhough he's protected.

Do you guys know what the price difference is between buying the Revolution online (I've been getting mine without a prescription from Canada) and getting it from the vet?

Bobby got a note in the mail yesterday that he was due for his rabies shot, so I stopped by the vet's and booked him for next Friday. He's getting his microchip then, too, before hurricane season, just to be on the safe side (Milo has one already). Anyway, if the price is about the same, I may as well get the Revolution there. But like I said, I have no idea what the price difference is.

  8. GD, when I looked online at various sites I saw no discernible price difference, maybe a few dollars. My vet gives a free vial if you buy a 6-pack, which is needed because I have 7 cats, so I buy from him. How much do you pay in Canada? By the way, you might ask your vet about the one vial free with 6 pack offer.

  9. I don't get a free 7th online. I pay 64.12 for 6.
Interesting thing is when I started ordering from PetDrugs.com, the Revolution was sent to me from Canada, but the last two times, it's come from Australia!
I'll ask my vet on Friday what he charges, and if he'd give a 7th vial for free.

  10. I can't find my receipt, but my cost was something like $81 including sales tax, so I guess the cost is about $74? Does the $64.12 include shipping? If so, may switch to petdrugs.com. That is not one of the ones I had checked out--I had looked at Foster Smith and some others I can't recall.

  11. I use PetDrugs because I didn't have a prescription and figured this was easier. 6 doses are $64.12 and the shipping is $6.95 - no tax because I buy it online, so that saves a few bucks. Total is $71.07. If you do the math, you're paying $11.57 per dose and I'm paying $11.85, because you get 7 doses and I get 6.

  12. Another source for Revolution Blue is petshed.com (Australia). Their 6 vial package is $50.95 plus $5.00 shipping.......$1.00 extra for additional purchases. I've ordered Advantage from them before. It took about 7 business days to arrive. I roughly figured,(incl.shipping) to cost $9.32 per dose, for the Revolution.

  13. My old cat, Harley had some of those worms that looked like grains of Rice, but I'm not sure what they were called...

  14. ok CW, here is the voice of experience. Round worms and hook worms are different from tape worms. Round worms are in the family Nematodes and include the pin worm and ascaris (intestinal round worm) Hookworms are actually a type of round worm, however the way they enter the body is different. Tape worms are cestodes and there are many kinds of them, but I am so not gonna get into that. They are treated differently and cats do tend to get tapeworms from eating fleas. I hope that is helpful, I just finished studying the section on worms for my MT test (ICK)
By the way Ambrose says hi:tendqw09= tu
