cricketsmama, Nibs wanted to say "thank you" for the most excellent tummy rubs this afternoon. The girls are all snoozing now - they don't go to very many parties and now they are worn out.

Shaddo tells everyone that if they want to stay outside after the sun goes down, his mama will light some torches (high up out of kitty reach). They can tell ghost stories around the bonfire.

Fred and Cricket would LOVE to sleep over. Their mommy gave them their jammies through the wormhole, so they are all set. They are excited to spend some extra time with Shaddo. They promise to be on their best behavior

*Arriving late to the party, a timid grey and black tabby steps through the wormhole and looks around for a few minutes before making the rounds to introduce herself. Mamma kitty brings some special cheese and bacon treats that her mommy bought for the occasion and lets everybody know that Shiva is sorry she couldn't make it to the party, but she didn't want anybody to see her with her face all swollen.*

It will take a minute but the rock and roll gang from the birthplace of Elvis couldn't/wouldn't let the day pass by without squeezing through the wormhole to be with Shaddo today. Here they come, Maybelline - don't mind her if she is a little cranky, Junebug-he's the tuxie that can't quit pulling his hair out, Randle - big ole fatty, Charli-sans his beautiful long tail- he looks like a manx now, Stink-don't mind him if he get's a little smelly it is just the way he is, and Ellie. Oh no, watch out,here come the cat loving dogs Bleau and Tallulah. They have packed tons of treats, water toys, balls for the dogs,spend the night jammies, sleeping bags, and dental treats so they won't get any cavaties. Here's wishing Shaddo a great day and party with all of his virtual friends. Joan, please give him a scritch from me.

Chance and Smudge must leave now. They bid farewell to those who are staying and those who are just arriving. Smudge slowly sidles up to Shaddo and gives him a quick kiss on the cheek as a thank you for the party. With their paws and tails waving, Chance and Smudge slip through the wormhole towards home.

Joan, can Huddy and Mavvy hang out with Shaddo just a while longer? They are really enjoying themselves! I sent them with overnight cases, but if they get on your nerves you can always send them back home. They get a little rowdy sometimes when mama's not there.

Can someone send q furbaby to my house to pick up CJ and Misty? I feel terrible I'm stuck here at the ER and they're missing a party because of me. They've never been to a party before and I know they'd love to come...especially since it's yard-maintenance day at my apts. They are so scared of the mower.

Bye Chance and Smudge - Shaddo is sooo glad you came. Karen, Huddy and Mavvy can stay as long as they want and it's really nice of Mav to pick up CJ and Misty (I hope you get out of that ER soon, Lisa). The party is not showing any signs of slowing down; it's time for another kitty circle-dance. Doggies allowed too - it's been really cool to have them here. The kitties circle, hold paws and, knowing Shaddo's secret, dance around till they fall over like dominos, laughing hysterically.

Ok, the bonfire is going and Blackbeard is telling pirate stories. A couple of kitties are sleeping on Tallulah and Bleau (that's so cute, tinafish!). Cricket found the soft blankie in the garden window. Shaddo is a happy fella today - what great friends he has!

Rotley leans over to Shaddo as Blackbeard finishes his tale of sailing the high seas.
"Grandpa Shaddo, Ruggie and I brought some sparklers for you and the rest of the kits from our mom. Mommy said that if the party lasted until the stars came out, we should give them to you and ask if you would like them for the party!"
Ruggles is leaning against Shaddo, half asleep with a tummy full of tuna fish. He looks up at his Grandpa Shaddo with soft amber eyes.
"Could we? Please?"

*Mamma Kitty stares at something in the wormhole entrance then goes over as if speaking to somebody. Slowly, a sweet tan German Shepherd mix sticks her nose out of the entrance. Mammy Kitty sniffs noses with the dog, then turns and leads her friend over to where the others are. "Hey everybody, this is my friend, Trinity!" One by one, the other kitties and doggies introduce themselves to Trinny and everybody settles down to listen to Blackbeard's pirate stories.*

Nibs pokes her nose through the wormhole to see how everyone is doing, but she doesn't like scary stories very much. It looks like a perfect summer evening party. Can you see the stars? It is cloudy and rainy here so we can't see any stars tonight. Be good, all you kitties! Shaddo, you and mama Joan throw a great party.
OK, the truth is that she is laying upside down in my lap getting her tummy rubbed. That is why it has taken me about 5 minutes to type this (one hand on the keyboard, one arm full of... cat).

Mama Joan quickly lights the sparklers and passes them out. The kits scamper through the dusky field like furry fireflies, sparks showering down on the grass and lighting up excited little faces.
Shaddo leans against Mama Joan, and watches the younger kits with a smile on his face. "It is good to be a grandpa," he murmers, as Trinity and Tallulah and Bleau race past him, with Huddy and Mavvy and CJ and Misty in hot pursuit, giggling as they run.
The bonfire's orange flames send the fragrant smoke upwards, the sparklers flash silver and hiss in tiny paws, while the laughter of the kits fills the back yard.
Stars shine down from a midnight blue sky. Oh, lovely day, lovelier night!

*Trinity lays down close to the bonfire nibbling on some treats and watching the kitties with their sparklers. Mamma Kitty comes back over to Trinny after her sparkler burns out and snuggles up against the dog. Both stare contentedly into the fire for a few minutes before getting up to go and play chase under the stars. A few of the other kitties join in as Trinity goes in circles trying to catch a cat. Finally, she catches Mamma Kitty and smothers her in kisses. Mamma Kitty sputters and tries to get away. The other kitties dogpile on Trinny and playfully attack her until Mamma Kitty is able to get free. Tired from their game, Trinity and the Kitties go back for some refreshments and sit back down in front of the fire. Mamma Kitty proposes a toast to Shaddo and everybody joins in.*

*Mamma Kitty and Trinity step into the wormhole to go home and change into their pajamas, and get their favorite blankies and some more snacks for the night. They also bring some more cheese and bacon treats and a special soft stuffed mouse toy as a gift for Shaddo.
The house is filled with guests, but Trinity and Mamma Kitty find a nice spot and spread their blankies out. Mamma Kitty puts the try of treats with all the other snacks, then she and Trinny search out Shaddo and give him his gift.*

What a beautiful day it was yesterday! The kitties and doggies who slept over had fun. A few managed to stay up almost all night, with a few napping for a bit, then waking up so as not to miss anything. Everyone is up now, a bit bleary-eyed, but it was worth it. One of the dogs curled around Shaddo while he slept; it was so cute!
Everyone's goodie bag had a special angel pin attached to it. It is similar to the one Shaddo wears in memory of his brother. They have real diamonds in them (where did Shaddo get the money for this???).

Give Shaddo my love and hugs this a.m., from both me and my crew....mine all feel neglected cuz their mum hasn't let them play with others (mostly cuz I am too tired during the day)...hope he is doing better today.

Bleau, Tallulah, Stink, Charli, Ellie, May, Randle, Randle I'm talking to you, Junebug! Time to come home, back through the wormhole....Joan I am so sorry to be late picking up the gang. I hope they weren't a bother and behaved themselves, you know how dogs can be! Scritches to Shaddo and a big hug to you.
