  1. I wish I had the option of parking my car and taking the train. Mass transit in Central Texas is sadly lacking.

  2. we have it in Cleveland Catherine, but it is no where as good as more major cities or any European cities. They actually cut service to a lot of buses and now they are overflowing with people and they have no clue what to do. Someone started a petition to bring back service. It's a mess.

  3. Morning all! TGIF!!! I am so glad it is Friday, I can't stand myself! Tonight I finally get to seal the grout in the master bath and start replacing baseboards. Hopefully by Sunday night I will have my master bath back and can have a long soak in the jacuzzi tub with candles and music. Happy in the knowledge that when I step out of the tub I won't be stepping on nasty carpet!

  4. Hi all! I don't feel like working today! I'm meeting two friends for lunch in a hour and at three I'm taking Bobby for his shots. I have to let the people at the gym know today about the hours I can run the show while the front desk manager is away on vacation. I haven't discussed it with Boss at the office yet, because my brother hasn't let me know if he's definitely coming to visit this summer or not. If he isn't I can take two weeks of mornings off instead of taking a whole week off. This way I can work the mornings at the gym and it shouldn't be a problem. I had also hoped Boss might have quit by now.
This is a good opportunity for me to run things at the gym , especially now that it seems one of the managers may quit. I'm hoping Boss will understand that I ought to do this to have a full-time job waiting for me when/if he quits. On the other hand, we're still so insanely busy (well, Boss is) that I feel bad asking to only work 4-5 hours a day for 2 1/2 weeks! Arrrrgh - don't know what to do!!!!

  5. *shivers* Friday the 13th!?!?!?! I need prayers for me to have a safe trip with my cousin to Florida...especially on Friday the 13th! O.o oh, and Rocky is up to his old ways again, he went on another adventure today...

  6. Morning all.
Public transportation in the Phoenix area is awful. Takes 1.5 - 2 hours to get on a bus where you can get by car in 30 minutes.
CW - I had a Jeep.. LOVED IT. MISS IT terribly - until I get to the gas pump. I sold it 2 years ago and bought a Honda Civic. The Jeep got 17 mpg... the Honda averages 38. With lots of freeway driving (going back and forth to see Dad every day for 2 weeks at 100 miles round trip per day) I was eeking out 40+ mpg.
Donuts sound wonderful this morning, as does bacon, eggs and corned beef hash. Wash it all down with a Chai tea and I'll be good to go.
Rough start to the morning today - made the mistake of winding up a small music box on my fridge that plays "Memories" from the musical Cats. A gift from Mom ... yep... that started the waterworks early. Hard to swallow cereal when you're crying.

  7. NOTE TO SELF: *CHECK OUT HONDA CIVIC.*

2P, sorry to hear that hearing Memories from Cats brought a flood of tears. I pray for your comfort.

  8. CW - I bought my Honda used. It's a 2004 and I love it. I would, however, not buy a 2 door again. Cute and sporty, but a pain in parking lots to open the door far enough to get out.
Thank you... I know this will all take time.

OH - I had a visitor outside my 2nd story window this morning. A pretty orangie was walking the roof. Chloe was not particularly impressed with said visitor! Had a tag... but NO WAY could I quick the pretty baby. Ran like the wind when I opened the window.

  9. 2P, hugs. Let the tears flow. Tears are healing. Time will not ever heal the wound of losing your dear mother, but time will soften the edges and blur the hard lines. It is almost 9 years since I lost my dad and over 14 years since I lost my sister and I know that you will eventually get to the point that you can pull the warm memories of your mom around you like a soft quilt. You will be able to look at the birghtly colored pieces of your lives together and smile again.

  10. Good morning all. Sorry you had tears this morning, 2P..part of the healing process of loss and all.

I went and dropped off a keyboard and mouse (that I borrowed when my computer was having issues and I couldn't use my wireless keyboard and mouse) to Instinct last night. They both seemed to be doing good. They are finished with school and now are focusing on their jobs.

GD, why do you want your boss at your full time job to quit? I thought this boss was a good guy since he allows you to have such a flexible schedule and you get to bring your kitties into work. I hope things work out there.

TGIF!! My boss is off till next Tuesday, Woohoo! Only downside is that they are moving some of the offices due to the CEO wanting to move his office, and so that involves packing up Boss's office while he is on vacation. Well, with my hurt back, I am not so keen on the packing part. I will do what I can and then will ask for help from a facilities person. So much for a nice slow week. My back is bothering me enough this morning that I had to take two advil and put the icey/hot gel on my back. If I don't feel better by this afternoon, I am going to go home. Sitting for long periods of time at my desk working on the computer is not helping heal it. It was feeling better Wednesday and Thursday. I must have slept in a wrong position.

I had a mickey d's egg mcmuffin and an iced coffee this morning and am feeling pretty awake now (will be crashing by 2pm) Temps are suppose to be cooler today so instead of it being 87 degrees it will be more like around 80 degrees. Last night did not cool down enough in my apartment so I am going to go look at fans after work. I am sure there won't be much available after the increase in temps but will check out online just in case.

  11. Arrrrrrgh, just spent $70.00 putting gas in my car!!! My jeep only gets 15.9 (or so it says) mpg!!!!! :( But I LOVE my jeep!

Karin, I want Boss to quit because I can't stand it here anymore. He is a wonderful guy in an old favorite uncle kind of way, but I'm so bored and even if I would make a bit more money working both jobs as I do now, than if I worked full-time at the gym, it's just not worth it. Why should I have a job where I hate going to work every day? I enjoy the kind of work I do at the gym so much more. If I go full time at the gym, it's only a matter of time before one or two of the managers quit (one told me that herself yesterday) and I can take over their job and make more money per hour, too.
As for my boss, I'm starting to really worry about him staying in this job - he is working til 9pm and weekends now and still not getting anything done because of the idiot company we work with. Last night he was so frustrated I was hearing some very colorful expletitives coming from his office, and it takes a lot to get him that upset.
One friend just told me at lunch that I should make sure he knows that I'll have a full-time job waiting for me at the gym anytime, if I need it, so he won't let that keep him from quitting. I think I'll see if I can mention that sometime today. Still have to mention the time off thing.

  12. Good luck to you GD. I think one full time job would be better for you. You'd use less gas, and you'd not have to pick up bosses daughter, or care for the animals or whatever else you currently do for boss and his wife without compensation. I've worked at jobs I didn't like, and I've worked at jobs that I do like... I much prefer the latter !

Posted 3 years ago by 2 Popoki #

  13. Yep! It would be easier to just quit if I didn't like Boss! I would feel horrible doing it right now!

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  14. Understood. Is there a let-up in sight for the heavy work load for boss?

  18. CW, PM, and Kilroy - I am "only" 155 miles from NYC, if you come in November I'd love to meet up with all of you !!!

155 miles to NYC would work out better than a transatlantic flight to Madrid (and be less expensive too - maybe !! I love to shop !!)

and I also would love to meet Javi after the wedding too, so please keep me informed of all your plans, it would be great !!!

Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

  23. Save some for Huddy, HM!!!

2P, the work load will let up as soon as the national economy improves!!!!! Until then, clients and potentials are wanting to insure themselves incase their buyers go bankrupt and can't pay them!
So, no, unfortunately this'll last for a while. Boss thinks until at lest the end of the year - I doubt we'll last as long!

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  24. I'll tell Huddy that his Auntie GD is to thank for the ribs! You always look out for him. Yes, I'll give him some and he'll get them all over his bib and paws - lol. Then the man-friend will come along and polish off what I don't eat.

CM ribs are always in order and....I love you too!! :)

  25. Awwwww, Huddy! Just making sure he's not starving or anything, HM! lol

My Bobby is p*ssed! I just took him to the vet for the booster shots and now he's cranky and hiding! I'm not too happy, either - cost me $90.00!

Posted 3 years ago by GreatDane #

  26. I'm usually superstitious, but - THANK GOD today's over!!!!!

Posted 3 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  27. bad day MCW?

Posted 3 years ago by linda #

  28. A starving Huddy - nope, can't fathom it - lol. Poor Bobby, getting stuck by those needles is no fun. Hug that sweetboy for me.

Posted 3 years ago by HuddysMama #

  29. WHen I manage to get him out from hididng under the desk, I will, HM!
I'm going to have to take him into work someetime next week. The last two times I've brought him to the office now, I've taken him to the vet. I need him to come in once and not go to the vet, so he won't get nervous or not like coming into the office.
