2 of my 3 bottle baby fosters, Montague and Juliet, went to wonderful homes today. Romeo and I are heartsick. They were orphaned kittens that were going to be euthanized at an LA shelter the day I agreed to foster them. I bottle fed them at all hours, weaned them and loved them more than I can describe. I hope that the millions of kisses I gave them will last them a lifetime. I hope I can stop crying by tomorrow. I will not leave Romeo alone because he cries so loud, never did when his siblings were here. Tonight hopefully he can sleep with Mickey, he adores kittens and has already given him a good cleaning.

This is the tough part of fostering, isn't it? So hard to let them go! You have given them the gift of life and wonderful families to be safe and loved by. I'm glad Mickey is being kind to Romeo. {{{hugs}}}

Tigerlilly, you have a stronger heart than I do, you can do fostering and give them a strong start on a good life. Bless you :)

When you foster something so small and fragile and young, you are telling God that you will put your heart at risk, because after all the care and love you've given, that little life must pass on to other hands while taking a piece of your own heart with it.
Tigerlilly, without your intercession, those little lives would have been lost. You are such a blessing!

Tigerlilly...you have me crying with you at the tenderness you shared with these three little ones. You were the mother and they were your babies. {{{{BIG HUGS}}}} Headbonks and Purrs to little Romeo.
You are such an incredible person to do this for these little lives...I'm too cowardly to do what you do. I'm very proud of you sweetie! -
Thanks all...nothing to be too impressed with really. I had never done it before, got an unexpected call one day about taking three little angels at a moments notice. Without thinking said yes and and then ...I knew the time would come. Not sure I will ever be able to do this again. Well , I'm not sure how strong I am really since Romeo, the little runt is still here with me and no plans to go elsewhere!!! We have not left him alone for a minute. This little baby who never cried now cries when he is alone. Of course he must miss his brother and sister. It hurts to realize that in their little lives they've already had to endure so much trauma. First being thrown in a shelter, who knows what happened to their Mama. When I got them they were starving, who knows how long they had been without food. This past Wednesday they had to leave me for 24 hours to go to the big city rescue site for their spa day, only to return happily home Thursday. But then, only a day and a half of joy before another hurdle in their little lives, new homes alone. That's it, I'm crying again!

Honey, as tough as it is for you, remember that they AREN'T in new homes alone--they were adopted to be loved by their new furever families. And not to take anything away from either all of us who love kitties, or the kits themselves, but they aren't human and don't have human emotions--they don't hold grudges forever. Better that you gave them a chance at life than for them to be already gone over the bridge, which is what surely would have happened. You need to be proud of your accomplishment instead of sad--there are many people out there who wouldn't be bothered, no matter what the outcome for the babies.

I think the title you gave this thread says it all, TL. It is OK to be both happy and sad. All three of them will do well thanks to you!

Tigerlilly you did an amazing thing to help these little kitties. Fostering is hard work and you can't help but get attached to them. That is why I couldn't foster as I would get too attached and it would be to hard to give them up. I was actually asked to foster by two different agencies.

2bp, I don't know about my baby Romeo. There is a small chance that Juliet's new Daddy may want a second kitty, in which case I would love to see 2 siblings reunited. As it is Juliet and Montague will have play dates because they were adopted by very good friends who will cat sit for each other. Otherwise, I'm not sure that Romeo will be going anywhere! All of our kitties adore him , especially Mickey, he gives him a good cleaning... Mickey is really a gret "Mama cat"

If Mickey loves Romeo then Romeo should stay. Maybe you can get in on a couple of kitty play dates with his siblings!
