  1. Eric has lived with us exactly 18 months - and in all that time, he's "chirped" a lot and made a funny sort of "hmmm-mmm" squeaky noise - but today he miaowed. Twice!! A proper miaow. Once at Chris through the back door, and just now outside the sitting room door. He's now settled on a cushion to my side, and despite my asking, won't tell me how he's learned to miaow properly at last!

  6. He couldn't miaow more than Pickle, or howl more than Bones if he tried!! At least Button's nice and quiet (famous last words...)

  7. Yay for Eric! Did he scare himself when the meows come out?

  8. I wonder what causes the different meows...Spot barely squeaks anything out and yet Zooney has taken to MEOWING!!! at me in the morning. I keep asking her "what do you want?!" but she just looks at me and does her howler monkey impersonation...

  9. Mili 'squeaks' .... sometimes VERY loud, and often very long. Have no clue what she wants LOL I just talk back to her ;) Chloe is very very quiet... seldom makes any sound at all.
Yea! for Erick and his miaow !!

  10. He didn't seem at all surprised GD, acted as if it was all perfectly normal! Button has a pretty pathetic miaow, Bones just howls like a banshee and Pickle has an almost oriental reportoire of highly impressive decibal proportions for her size!

  11. LOL, MCW! Yay for Eric! He's found his voice at last!

Tikka also makes an interesting array of different miaows and other sounds. Often I can tell what she wants based on what else she is doing or where she is (ie - sitting in front of the cupboard where her food is or scratching at the door to the garage), but other times I just have no clue! Is she happy, annoyed, just chatting or...???

  12. Sylvester chirps and makes a sound that is like "mmmrrrrrrrruppp" whereas Mia meows but only like when she sees something or will sometimes meow in response to my meowing at her when she meows.

  13. Congrats Eric for showing that you know many tongues! Human is a difficult language at the best of moments and meowing so that those two-legged furless ones around you understand is an added difficulty. MCW actually he is just found his voice and wants to share with you, thats love for ya :)

  17. Go Eric! Next up: learn to roar!
