I believe I have a safe audience here (a little afraid to tell friends and coworkers) to announce: we just adopted our lucky 7th kitty! Please welcome little Schatzi to Dancing Cat Hill. There was a question on the adoption papers asking, "Why do you want this cat?" Oh, my, when you already have six how do you answer that one? Because I needed a kitty to cuddle and my friend who had rescued him said he was a cuddler! He is twelve weeks old today (we got him Sunday.) He purrs so loud the instant he is touched, he loves to cuddle, and I think he will be a big kitty one day based on the length of his legs. He is a happy boy! He reminds me of a colt with those long legs and he already has a swagger! His new cousins are not too sure about it yet, the older cat Belle (15) and the mama cat Mali (2) have serious reservations and deep ugly gutteral words and hisses for him. The four kittens (at almost 14 months now) are very curious about what this new whirling dervish is all about. Yogi has touched noses with him and I think will be the first to show some love, but the three girls Annie, Colebee and Trixie also seem willing to say, "what's one more? It's all good!". He is a love bug and we are happy, even if we are afraid to tell people we've jumped off the deep end into catdom! You can see everyone's picture on Catster. Cheers!

Thanks 2bp. I think it is too easy to become like those news stories where they find hundreds of cats in a home. I want them all! But I know one really has to be able to care for them and so be reasonable - but sometimes... all it takes is a purr and nose lick to push me over the edge!

I love it. I have been aching for a new kitten too but seeing that I already have 7, I tend to shy away from that idea. Now if the Lord sends me one, how could I resist?

Little Schatzi is so cute! Congrats on picking a cuddler. My cats don't want to be cuddled and sometimes I do it just because I just have to cuddle. Smudge is getting a little better at wanting to be close to me, but Chance just wants to play if I start cuddling him.

I've been wanting to add to my kitty family, but three is really my limit (if for no other reason than my three tend to hog the bed and leave little room for the humans at night!).

Thanks to everyone for your friendship and support! There will be more pictures soon, if we can get him to slow down for a few still shots. I took a few last night of him playing with a feather boa but all you can really see is a blurr of feathers and fur. I knew I would get some support here if there was any group of folks that would understand the lure of multiple cats it would be you guys! At the shelter where we picked him up there were at least a hundred more (very well cared for, spotlessly clean, and the most wonderful husband and wife running the place with only donations and volunteer support - Rude Ranch). So many kitties (and doggies too but that's a whole other show!) need so much help, I know I can't save them all but I'm happy to do my part.

DCH, if I owned a home I would probably have around 10 cats. My apartment complex has a limit on two so that keeps me in check. I do have to say that when I was going out to see Susie, I made the mistake of stopping at Petsmart to pick up a gift card. There were about 25 kittens there and I found one who was so adorable. He played with my hand and gave me sandpaper kisses and I wanted to take him home. He was a "cow colored kitty". I had to tear myself away as I wanted to take home at least three of them. Sylvester would not have been amused. Sending friends invites soon.

Thanks for the butterfly Sylvester and Mia's Mom, I am sure when he's all grown up that Schatzi will love to chase them! Your Sylvester looks very much like our Mali. She is our first "cow" kitty and none of her babies were really tuxies though Yogi is a grey tux. Petsmart is a tough visit. We stop by the kitties every week and wish them well in finding their furrever homes.

Schatzi is a handsome little one...I'd want him too! You are such a pushover...teehee...I am too. I already have 4 myself and the neighbor's kitty has decided that living on my front porch is much more comfortable than living at her house. Yikes! I don't know what to do..She wants some petting and loving almost more than she wants the food she takes away with her. It breaks my heart....since she's not mine. I want to hold her and snuggle her but her home is right next door. Anyway..Your newbie is adorable...My kits sent him a friends invite!!!!!
