We will have to just send in a strike team to retrieve the kitty if this doesn't work...We will not let Jennifer fall into enemy hands!

I would also like to know about the Petsmart card for OW and Jennifer. Will someone keep us informed?

Karen, I do remember that situation..Keep your fingers crossed we don't get caught..but otherwise, this woman was planning on putting Jennifer in a cage and keeping her in her garage! It is about 100-110 degrees out here right now..We can't allow this kitty who has someone who wants to love her and give her a good home end up spending her life in a cage...I will take full responcibility for any backlash!

Karenopa,
Once Jennifer is adopted, she will simply be 'lost'. What can the rescue organization do if the animal gets out and is never seen again?
SoxsMom,
It isn't just her turning me down for adoption that makes me think of rescue owner as a monster. It's what she would have done with Jennifer to keep me from getting her. She told my neighbor that she had a home for the cat and was coming to get the cat. The lady who works for her confirmed that there was no home for Jennifer and that the owner of the rescue was just going to put the cat in a cage in her garage where she would have no sunlight, no human contact (except for feeding time when a dish is shoved into her cage), and almost no hope of ever getting out since they are so maniacally strict about their adoption policies. I have heard from my neighbor that this rescue has a very low adoption rate. One lady who was fostering a kitten for them wanted to adopt that kitten and was turned down. The kitten was immediately taken away from the foster mom and taken back to the owners house where it was caged because there are so few people who are willing to deal with this lady and foster animals for her. The foster mom who had hand raised this kitten and fallen in love with it was denied adoption. To me, this is not fair and borders upon cruelty. The foster mom had bonded with the kitten but the kitten was denied a loving home because of the rescue owner. This is not the only story I have heard -- just an example.
My neighbor has also had other dealings with the owner of the rescue (they used to be friends) and has told me many stories about her and the way she treats people. This also gives me the impression that the owner of the rescue is capable of being a monster.Posted 3 years ago by owlwatcher_974 #

Ow I hope it's as simple as that. The only reason I even mention it is that in the case of Ellen Degeneres who adopted a dog then gave it to a friend...when the rescue found out (which I don't know how this occured) they legally removed the dog from Ellen's friend who was quite devastated. It went to court and I don't know how it ever came out...I only thought how horrible for the dog and the loving owner to go through such a thing. I thought the person in charge of that rescue adoption agency must have been a Monster too. I'm seeing you with you sweet Jennifer snuggling in your favorite chair complete with purrrs and squinty love looks from your baby!

SoxMom, please don't get the wrong idea, I really think anyone who does any part of rescue work is an Angel! The woman in question here I believe at one time was an Angel, and I know that she recently has had some personal losses that seem to had taken quite a toll on her. I'm sure with all she is going thru, she doesn't see how some of her actions are no longer in the best intrest of the animal. I hope this is only temporary, and if we can go around about way of helping this kitty until her life stablizes then it's better for everyone.

SoxMom...I do not lump all rescue workers into a Monster group. Contrary they are magnificent heros but with all agencies, there is a human element making SOME unpredictably insufficient to do the work without bias. As 2b mentioned this person has had some personal distractions she hadn't planned on and just needs to hand her hat to another person til she's able to give rescue her full attention. I for one could never do the job she has taken on...I had every intention of finding homes for at least 3 of the 4 kittens I'd taken responsibility for a yr. ago. In light of the probable candidates.....I kept them. I don't suppose that makes me a monster and now that I think about it, this woman cannot be a monster with the decisions she has to make. Some strictness to the apps I consider overboard though. Also OW states there's much information we don't know that she's privy to that further lends question to this rescue workers ethics.

SoxsMom,
I just want to clarify that I have never called animal rescue workers monsters - I have called one lady who has done some very questionable things a monster. I haven't said anything bad about the lady who works for her - in fact, I have only had good things to say. There are other things going on behind the scenes in this situation that would make me call the one lady a monster -- and, even with what she has done and the things she said about me that hurt me and the things she did that hurt my neighbor, I still feel bad calling her names.
Still, locking a cat away in a cage in a hot garage instead of keeping it in a good, stable foster home, is not what comes to mind when I think of rescuing animals.Posted 3 years ago by owlwatcher_974 #

there is an independent "read no city, state, or county help" here in town that will not let you adopt if you state that you will let your new friend outside, it doesn't matter if you get them fixed or not...lots of animals have lost homes due to this policy...
personally, i don't let Velvet or Spice outside without harnesses and leads, I am with them at all times, they are not cats, they are my furbabies...

Shiva and Mamma Kitty would go insane if I didn't let them go outside, and they would definitely tear the house and possibly me to peices. I have a big yard that they can run around in and they usually stay in my yard, although they do go into my neighbors back yard once in a while. But I do understand that some animals are indoor only and I was willing to agree to the indoor only rule for Jennifer.

OW, I hope you get her soon. I don't know the whole story but I have pieced it together by reading threads. Since Jennifer and I share a name, I should have a vote where she goes :) Keep us updated. When is the soonest you think you could get her?

It's impossible to tell. Jennifer still needs to be spayed and, while they have an appointment for her already, I have no idea when the appointment is. Then they still have to meet with 2b's friend and interview him and check out his house to make sure he is what they consider suitable to adopt the kitty. Once he has Jennifer, arrangements still need to be made to get her to me. I don't know if 2b will be bringing her down her, if I have to go to her friends house to pick the kitty up or how this is going to work out. 2b said she wants to meet me and Jennifer so she might drive Jennifer down here. We just have to wait and see how everything comes together.
I will keep all of you updated as I get more information.
