The appointment is for 3:00 this afternoon, and he will have his blood drawn for testing to begin the diagnostic process. The vet agrees that this isn't just stress; if it were, he should have gotten over it by now. I have to try to get in touch with his first mom to see when the weight loss started. I have her cell phone number, but Mr. Leeny said that, on the day we went to meet Gabe, she had mentioned going to Florida. I'll do my best to reach her; that's all I can do.
Last night Gabe drank a serving of KMR, about 3 tablespoons. I was so happy that I took the resurrection crucifix off my bedroom wall and kissed it! He took about another tablespoon this morning. When the vet called, though, he said he generally doesn't recommend KMR for adult cats because it can upset their stomachs. When I was buying it yesterday, I looked at the ingredients, and it does contain milk products. That surprised me.
The vet reminded me, and I told him I knew, that the blood test may still reveal something that would mean it would be best for Gabe to go to the Bridge. Knowing something, even something like that, would be better than this suspense. He is such a sweet boy, though. He spent last night at the foot of the bed. When the alarm rang this morning, he got up and came to me to be pet and to rest on my abdomen, just like it was a signal! Mr. Leeny just called to tell me that Gabe is exploring the kitchen again. No matter how long or short his time with us, Gabe has a permanent place in my heart.
