Well we're home and so is Dara. She is pumped full of antibiotics and fluids and very snuffly but purring her little heart out curled up in front of the fireplace. She was very happy to see us. The vet said she has improved and they are waiting on the test results for feline leukemia and aids. She was not really interested in eating but we hope now she is home she will take an interest (particularly when Spike gets home from the cattery soon). I am staying home from work tomorrow to look after her (my boss is very understanding luckily and I can work remotely!)
Thanks to all of you for you white light, prayers and positive energy. I'm sure she would not have shown this improvement without the wonderful TDK input. Keep it coming please as she is not out of the woods yet! The USA is a great place but it is so nice to be home with my kitties again!

I'm send lots of prayers your way KK. I hope Dara gets better. If you find out she has aids (FIV) please let me know. The same thing happened to my Cane Cane so I know a bit about the illness and places that can help inform you on what to do and no to do. I hope the results are negative and me and my babies will keep praying for you both.
Hugs & Purrs to you.

Oh thank God you're home! Vacations are great but there's no place like home. I hope you're able to boost up Dara's appetite soon. I want to add that I had a cat yrs. ago when the fel. leuk. vaccine first came out and when she was first tested she read pos. for the virus. She wasn't even ill and I was very upset as she couldn't get the vaccine while reading positive. I fell apart and my sweet dear vet gave me a hug and said.."let me keep baily here for a few days and I'll test her again." so he did....and the second test came back the same. I was so distraught and he said he was going to really pack her full of that paste (nutrients) they give to cats and believe it or not within a few days her test read neg. and he was able to go ahead and vaccinate her. He was just as pleased as I was at the time because he hadn't been aware that a cat can go from pos. to neg. with this virus. He said it would give new hope to his future customers. Normally this would have cost me gobs of money but he didn't charge me a dime. He said that what he learned with Baily was priceless. So if Dara should happen to test pos. maybe there's a chance she can be turned around if she can get her system built up prior to testing. {{{{Hugs}}}}

Dara is still very snuffy and snotty. She spent the night curled up next to me under the covers. According to MrKK she got up and peed on the carpet in the night but we'll forgive her that. She is not eating or drinking though so going back to the vet this afternoon for fluids and antibiotics. If she doesn't eat tomorrow they will have to look at sedating her (with the attendant risks) and putting in a feeding tube.

I wish she would eat but she is not interested in anything - even the really smelly stuff which should get past a blocked nose! She is happy when she is snuggling with us though.

Oh KK, I've been out of the loop for awhile, poor Dara! I'm sending healing thoughts and prayers for her speedy recovery. I've been through the feline aids thing personally and I know what a heartbreak it is. Just keep her comfortable and give her all the lovin she can stand! Dara will be in my thoughts.
