  1. KW, there are tons of classes before, and during the show, by all of the world class quilters. But, you have to sign up early! There are also some smaller classes offered during the show on the floor of the convention center - they are more informal and you wouldn't bring your sewing machine.

Every manufacturer displays at Houston. You should have seen the mob last year around the HQ16 booth. Personally, I have my eye on a Viking 17 with a Hinterberg frame. You can "test drive" every single system out there at Houston.

  2. You have a very devoted husband, WWM! My hubby accompanied me to the quilt show today. He said that looking at quilts was like me watching golf on TV when he turns it on. LOL

There were other dutiful husbands in attendance. We saw two couples with matching shirts. My hubby drew a line at that idea! :D

Would you e-mail me your telephone number, WWM? cdcarlson at excite dot com

  3. KW, try this link http://www.quilts.com/home/shows/

Oh, yes... I do have a terrific husband, KW! Andy builds wooden ship models and has an appreciation for art of any type. He knows that those art quilts are beyond my ability but he always praises my quilts as if they were the best ever.

We saw one couple at the Houston show last year with matching shirts. Can you say "dorky"?? That would never happen!!!

  8. Hi, Ange! I hope Patches and Max will soon be friends. :)

WWM, it looks like class registration begins this Monday! Do you enroll in classes any more? (I know you've been quilting for quite a while. You could probably teach them!)

Goodnight, Dorie! Sweet dreams, birthday girl!!

  9. KW, here is what Andy does as a "hobby". Of course, I am prejudiced, but his work is museum quality. They had a display of his ships at our county library and they said it was the most attended display ever. *puffing up*

  10. You have every reason to "puff up," WWM! Those ships must have taken Andy many, many hours to build.

  11. LOL, KW!!!! The ladies in my guild would be rolling over in hysterics to think that I could teach a class! I do "sleep under me quilts"!!!! And I adore fabric. But, I'm a piker - I think of myself as an intermediate quilter! Truthfully, I don't take classes at the show, although I should. But the thought of hauling all of my stuff there...... too much! I have friends here who take the classes every year and have said they are the best ever. I wish that you could see some of the quilts that come out of my guild. I never do "show and tell" because I'm just too ordinary!

  12. KW, Andy says it's best to look at his site as a slide show. (don't ask me why!)

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  13. Once I told Andy "I think that it would drive me crazy to tie all of those teeny, tiny knots" and he said "Well, it would drive me nuts to cut up perfectly good fabric into itty-bitty pieces only to sew the pieces together again". End of discussion!

  14. heehee Me too KW even if just tolerantion would be nice!

Posted 3 years ago by Momma to 2 MaineCoons #

  15. He has a point about cutting up perfectly good fabric only to sew it back together, but then I don't get the point of hitting a little white ball into a hole in a finely manicured lawn! LOL

  16. How are your mom and step-dad doing with Max, Ange? Are they complete puddles of butter over him? :D

Posted 3 years ago by Kitten Whisperer #

  17. *giggle*... me,too KW. But I'm not a golfer. However, our friends here (she's the one who might come to Houston and she met the London TDKers)... he lives, eats and breaths golf! I can think of way better ways to spend 4 hours but at least he is out in the fresh air!

  18. well all I'm off again! See you tomorrow afternoon!

Posted 3 years ago by Momma to 2 MaineCoons #

  19. I can see golf as being a nice walk, but the rest of it has always eluded me. Ask your friend if he has ever read "A Nasty Bit of Rough" by David Feherty. It is hilarious!

Bye, Ange. Enjoy the rest of your evening!

  21. ACK - 10:00 pm here and the witching hour! I think that I am off to bed. Last night I woke up with the most excruciating leg cramp that Andy had to massage out. Poor Windi, who was sleeping beside me, was most alarmed. Andy really had no sympathy for me and told me that what causes those types of cramps is low sodium. I watch sodium like a hawk because I can eat something salty and the next day the scale will read two lbs more :-( Stupid - it's only water but I have this mental thing! Well, tonight I should be okay because I've had soy sauce!!

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  22. Goodnight, WWM. I'll look for your e-mail. I hope you don't have any leg cramps tonight.

I'll sign off here too. :)

  23. Goodnight, Everyone! Sweet dreams!

KW, I don't make hotel reservations in Houston till later. If you want to stay right by the convention center, then yes... you would have needed to make them months ago. But we know Houston and it's no big deal to stay down by the medical center area and drive up to the center. Do you have Southwest Airlines where you are? Best way to get there, really.
