  1. So what time is dinner, Sandi? I love soup. I recall when my Mom made a lot of home made soups one year as they were taking a sabbatical from work and we needed to watch our expenditures.

  2. Maybe we should start a new thread "Soup is good" just like Instinct's "I like Cheese" thread. Who knows where we could go with it! lol

I'm getting hungry with this talk of food. Hubby and I are going in search of dinner. I will check back in a little later.

  3. Enjoy dinner, KW.

  4. Good idea for a thread. I make a great chicken chili and an awesome carrot ginger. My biggest problem is that I can make them and I know exactly what to put in. I'll fill the pot with carrots add vegetable stock to cover, add some onions and some ginger and some garlic and simmer it and puree it when it is soft and then add some half and half. Trouble is I just know what and how much to put in by feel but when I try to figure out the right amounts and write down a recipe I have trouble doing it.

  7. Soup is good! I make a chicken noodle soup and a beef barley soup, that one is my signature dish, if you will. Being summer time, it's not a good thing to make right now. But in a couple of months will be making it again!

  8. Hi all back! Okay not a big soup fan here but I do love fresh veggie soups, bean soups and minastrone soup! But I am much more of a stew eater!

Only thing about a soup diet is morning, noon and night soup, I's hate soup after a day or 2! I like to eat veggie soups with grilled cheese sammies yummy!

  9. KW, I have a headache from said hour long conversation with the mom. I think that I am taking tylenol and packing it in. I will be home tomorrow. I am hesitant to call your work number. But, if I don't hear from you, I'll try you tomorrow evening. That two hour time difference confuses me! We are on CST and I'm sure that you are PST. These moms.... when a kid goes to college, they leave home, right?...... ARG! (of course, that's easy for me to say because we don't have children)

  10. Ange, my beef soup is carrots, celery, garlic in butter, then add the beef cubes, cut small. then add beef broth and let simmer for 30 minutes, then add barley, let cook for 45 minutes. That is pretty much the soup, but I add potatoes and mushrooms and it becomes a stoup, so to speak. Thick and rich, much like a soup but thicker because of the potatoes and barley. Good stuff for me anyway and some of the neighbors here!

  11. A soup thread would be good in October. Although I do have ingridients to make my own version of gazpacho. Good summertime soup and a good way to get some vegies in me

  14. My beef soup and chicken noodle is the only way to get them in me, Sandi!! Seems like I only eat them in the winter! I love tomatoes, like in BLT's but other than that can do without the veggies! And with the recall of tomatoes and peppers, don't want to go there.

  19. Ok, Mama must go to bed, past her bedtime here on the Eastern coast. Hope you all had a good weekend and got some rest or at least enjoyed your time off from your jobs. Have a good week and hope to see you when I can get on at night next week.

So until then, stay safe, stay well, and may the angels kiss you gently while you sleep.

    Love, Mama Lynn
