Hi all, I haven't been on much lately because I have been spending all my time at work keeping a low profile and at home looking for jobs. Many of you may remember around the beginning of June, I got a negative review from my company and then at the end of June I had the face to face with my boss and it got worse. I had been looking for a job since the beginning of June but really stepped up the search after the face to face meeting. Well, great news, I had a really great interview yesterday for a company down the street from me. I should know something by tomorrow at the latest. I am envisioning myself walking in Thursday morning and giving my 2 weeks notice. I would like you all to pray or send the white light to this company so they know that I am the right person for this job. I walked away yesterday after it was over and knew in my heart that I really want this job and I am right for this job. I just hope they realized it too. :) I just wanted to share my exciting news. :)

Angel, read a bit about the difficulties at your job. I know what it's like to work for bosses giving you a hard time. Here's hoping that you get that new position.

Well, I got a call late yesterday that I was second choice for the job. :( Only reason I didn't get selected was because I can't start immediately which to me doesn't seem fair, but whatever. I have another interview tomorrow afternoon for a similar position downtown. I am trying to keep a positive outlook. There were things about the job I didn't get that in hindsight probably would have bothered me in the long run. I know that there is a fantastic job out there waiting for me. One even better than this one.

{{{{HUGS}}}} Angel..This company really missed out because of this unwillingness to allow you the customary 2 week notice. I question whether they would have made you happy in lieu of that. What other quirks might have been awaiting. I think your perfect job is just a breath away. Hang Tough my friend.

Angel, if we must spend one third of our lives doing a job, it should be one that makes us happy! Sending prayers and white light that the perfect job finds you and when it does, that company will be getting one fantastic employee!

Angel,
Although it may be disappointing, it's probably for the best. As Karenopa said, I have my doubts about a company not allowing you to give a 2-week notice to your current employer. Sounds like panic-hiring to me -- not the best thing. Wishing you luck on your next interview tomorrow!!!!

Ya know, I was telling my mom about this after it happened yesterday and she said the same thing, panic hiring. I would quit tomorrow to start immediately if that is what they wanted but I am going on a vacation next week and will be out of the country for a week. So my start date couldn't be until after August 4 anyway. My mom told me to hang on that maybe after I get back from Guatemala, that they will be still looking for someone because something might happen to that person they hired and it didn't work out after all. It would be nice, but I don't really see something like that happening.

It's just me, but I feel if an employer wants you badly enough, they will be more than willing to negotiate a mutually-agreeable start date.
The fact that they want you to start asap tells me two you would be walking smack into a "hot mess" on your first day, and they would expect you to hit the ground running. That sounds like a recipe for failure, not success.
Don't feel too bad. If you stick with your search long enough, you will land something. Most employers post-pone taking on new hires during the summer, only to begin filling positions in earnest during the early/mid fall. In any case, I would take that vacation and come back feeling refreshed.
Good luck!!!
