  2. It's an awful thing for an animal to have. I had a stray white cat show up one time on my porch, hungry as can be & looking worn out. I could tell she once belonged to someone. I named her Bunny. She took an instant love to people attention & ate so much I had to cut back on her food. She was a lap cat. I couldn't sit down, ever, without her coming over wanting my lap. In the few mos. I had her,she developed scabs on her nose & one ear that wouldn't heal. I knew what it was...dreadful cancer. It progressed so fast that she lost the outside of her nose within weeks. I ended up having to help sweet Bunny over the bridge.
Even my vet teared up for Bunny because she knew their was nothing more she could do as well,so, we helped Bunny over & had a good cry together. I'd do it all again just for those few months of unconditional love I recieved from beautiful Bunny.

  5. My parents had a cat with cancer. I am still angry at them because they thought her lumps were some sort of feline acne and didn't take her to the vet until it was far too late.

  7. My Bombalurina had a soft tissue cancer in her throat that the vet could offer no treatment to cure. So, we treated her symptoms.

I can tell you another sign to watch for and that is a "decaying" type odor. We see it in human patients with cancer all of the time. It's what first alerted me that something was wrong with Bomber, as there was no visual tumor at that time.

  8. Thanks miu..My beloved Mr.Bug had cancer and it was not found for sometime, we kept treating him for other possible illness. Unfortantly, none of these signs were present until way too late, but in most cases I'm sure that knowing these syptoms could be just one thing to get treatment in time..Thanks agian

  9. My daughter's Balinese, Rocky, got lymphoma. I didn't recognize symptoms because they came on the time my daughter went away to college--we just thought he was depressed without her. He would fall off whatever he tried to jump on. I did notice his flea collar (this was back in 1994) was too tight, and yelled at my husband for putting it on too tight (which of course he didn't when he put it on). Whne she came home on christmas break she took him to the vet for his annual physical. She called me at work hysterical "The vet said Rocky's very sick, you need to call him!" He told me Rocky had a tumor in his throat pressing on his ear canal which caused the unsteadiness when he jumped. We scheduled surgery for the next week but my daughter had to return to school before it was done. When she left she thought she might never see him alive again. Rocky came through the surgery but several hours later his heart went into arrest--they kept restarting it but it finally gave out. The vet said he fought to stay alive but the cancer took its toll. When my daughter called to see how he was I had to lie to her that he was OK--I didn't want her to know, being so far away from us with no one to comfort her. I still feel very guilty about not seeing it sooner. Rocky, please forgive me.....

  10. {{{{SM}}}}} Don't beat yourself up, many of the symptoms don't point to "I'm very sick"..my Mr.Bug was treated for cold..when it was a tumor in his head that caused the sniffels..Of course Rocky forgives you, you gave him love!

  13. Thanks, my friends. If my story helps one cat lover to save their baby in time then it was worth reliving the pain.

  14. Cancer can be a very tricky thing. One of my cats (a gold female) had a bump on her shoulder. At the time when it first showed up, even the vet wasn't very concerned with it. Well, there was no problems for quite some time, then suddenly it doubled in size literally overnight. The vet removed it and did a biopsy. As you can probably guess, it came back as cancer. The lump came back about a month later, it was removed again, but it came back for a third, again about a month later. Me and the vet both decided it wasn't worth the pain and stress she was going through to keep removing it given her age and that it kept coming back. A few months after that, she had to go to the bridge. She was almost 10 years old then.
