Bobby Had a Seizure!!!!
(193 posts)-
Thanks, Soxsmom - We feel it!
Bobby wants to thank Huddy, too, for the well-wishes!Since it's now past eleven, he's jumped into his chair and is sleeping. I'm relieved we got throught the first 24 hrs. without another seizure, but the vet said if he has another within 6 months, we'll have to staert him on meds of some kind.
I really want to ask the vvet about him playing with Milo and running around - sometimes the two of them get pretty rough. I wonder if something like that could set another one off or not. I'm wondering if there's anything other than medication I can do to prevent another one. -
Hugs to GD and Bob. One to Milo too for putting up with everyone acting different. Hope the vet can determine what caused the seizure and hopefully it is just a one time event. Sending positive and healing thoughts to Bobsky.

OMG!!! I've only just seen this! Poor Bobsky!!! And poor GD's fingers (and arm)! I'm so glad that Bobby seems to be back to normal today. I hope you get some positive news from the vet soon!
Sending prayers, healing energy, white light and hugs to GD and Bobby!

I am just now able to get to my computer and am so relieved to see the updates, GD. I know that this has been so stressful for you. I think that Bobby had lots of aunties who didn't sleep much for worrying about him, either.
{{{{{Hugs}}}}}} to you both and I'm sending Bobby some of his favorite fish and chips from London.
Take good care and keep us updated!

Milo acted pretty weird last night when we got home. Instead of being happy to see his big bro, he completely avoided him and instead sought my company - that has never happened before, since he prefers Bobby over his Mama any day.
He was none too happy about being confined to the bathroom, either, but we've gotta do what we've gotta do!Bobby is sleeping nicely in his chair and rolls over for belly rubs and chin scritches and there's a lot of kneading going on. He does seem a bit more clingy than usual, but from what I read, that's normal.
Before we go home, I'm going to go ask the vet about the playing with Milo-thing. One possible cause of a seizure is a head injury and if that is the case, I don't want him bouncing around like that. As I mentioned, he and Milo get pretty caught up in their fights and games, and there was some running around and chasing going on before the seizure happened, so I suppose he could have hit his head on something!Last night Milo jumped on top of the laundry hamper and it fell over with a crash. That sure woke me up in a frenzy, but when I discovered what it was and saw Mi with a guilty expression and Bobby curiously sniffing around, they both got a lot of scritches instead of yells.

GD, there could be a possibility that Bobby got a bonk on the head during some rough play the other day, and that may have caused the seizure. My two kits play very rough indeed and one time a vase narrowly missed the larger cat's head (the smaller cat is very agile, and the vase is now on the top shelf of a bookcase to avoid that happening again).
Glad to hear you two are doing better now! Boy, all of us have been so scared for you.
I am sending a local favorite, pepperoni rolls with marinara sauce, through the worm hole this evening.
PS: Rotley NEVER apologized to Ruggles.

Sweet Milo - he probably just thought that Bobby smelled funny.

When Ruggles got back from the vet in December (he had a cold), all he wanted was to be loved and cuddled. Rotley growled and hissed at him until the smell of the vet wore off in a day or two.
When Rotley had to go to the vet the following week (this time Rotley had a cold and bronchitis), he returned in a foul mood. Ruggles just wanted to love him and cuddle with him. Rotley growled and hissed at Ruggles, again because their scents were different.
Ruggles is a big, sweet, goofy baby. Rotley is a demanding and willful bad boy.
PS: As before, Rotley NEVER apologized to Ruggles.

GD...maybe last night Milo was feeling alienated a bit with the funny smells from Bobby and Bobby's extra attention. Along with your own high tension maybe Milo was feeling a bit blamed or just frightened and insecure. Remember he was there to witness the seizure too and must have been very confused if not frightened. I really hope the vets can get to the bottom of this soon. Without going back and re-reading and at the risk of sounding stupid..did they do an xray to determine the possibility of a head injury? GD you must be so tired. Please don't push yourself so hard that you end up sick...The boys need you to be strong and healthy. God Bless you all. {{{GD & Boys}}}

Whenever Fred or Cricket goes to the vet separately, the other one at home usually doesn't want anything to do with the other. I try to take them both in at the same time for their nails and shots then they are both smell like the vet and they are fine with each other. Silly kitties!

I Am tired, Karen, but that's okay. They did not x-ray Bobby's head. There was no bleeding or anything, but he could have still have gotten a concussion. THe first vet that we saw about an hour after the seizure was very thorough in checking Bobby's eyes. He was moving the light around in front of them to get him to follow it, he diluted them so he could check the back of the eyes for anything and he looked at them with both the light on and off. With a concussion or head injury, wouldn't he have been able to tell by looking at his eyes like that?
He kept coming back to him either getting into something poisonous or it having to do with his kidney issues. Seizures can be caused by kidney problems. However his regular vet didn't mention the kidneys other that feel around in that area and unlike when he got sick from the kidney infection, this time they didn't seem to bother him.I'm sure Milprobably was frightened. When I checked on him before leaving with Bobby, he was hiding under the ottoman with huge eyes and looked scared. I'm sure he could tell that I was scared and then he was able to smell the vet smells on Bob, too, so all that combined probably made him uneasy at the very least. I made sure I paid him lots of attention last night, too.
Bobby continues his nap, but did just eat 5 catnip treats!

A thought occurs! Have you checked for any chewed electrical cords? A shock can also cause seizure.

GD...Thanks for the update. I didn't have a chance to read this thread until late last night. It was quite scary to hear one of our most favorite movie stars was having serious medical issues. Lots of Prayers & Well-wishes to you,Bobsky & Milo.
Your gonna worry yourself into the hospital if your not careful. I learned it doesn't do us much good to think "What If" scenario while waiting for test results,but, also realize that panicked feeling a mama gets inside when her fuzzies get sick.
Hang in there & Please keep us posted. {{{HUGS}}}

Ailuro. the first vet asked me if he chews on cords. He usually doesn't, but he will if it moves - like to cord to the computer mouse. Last night when I went to turn on the computer, it wouldn't turn on, though. After fumbling around for a while, I found that one cord was partially unplugged from the surge protector. Once I pushed it back in, I was able to turn it back on. Could he have pulled on it and gotten shocked eventhough it was only partially pulled out? Would that have been enough?

More hugs to GD and Bobby. I'm so glad that your hand is better GD and Bobby sounds like he's back to normal.Prayers that it was a one time thing.
The vet was checking Bobby for neuro problems by checking how the pupils respond to light. It is pretty specific and accurate. -
It would be enough. I hope we have the mystery solved and the boys have the lesson learned.

yes he would have GD,when there is brain injury or dysfunction the pupils don't respond appropriately.Examples would be that the pupils could be dialted or pinpoint and unresponsive to light or mismatched sizes. A good practioner can learn a lot by a neuro exam. If the neuro exam was off then he would probably get further exams.

I would really like it that was the cause, Ailu!
Susie, rabies and tetanus are different things. Last time I got one, I had gotten bit by a dog. Here's a link to tetanus:
