  1. .. And I don't know what to expect! Do cats usually have to stay overnight at the hospital after getting neutered? What do you have to do beforehand and after the procedure? I'm getting it done by the end of the week and I am anxious! >_<

  2. I'm not the one to give you all the detail, but usually if you drop them off early you can pick them up in the afternoon..

  3. Mine were dropped off in the morning and picked up the next morning. My vet always keeps them overnight. When I had my dogs done they were dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon.

  4. Mine were dropped off in the morning and picked up in the afternoon. I didn't have to do a thing for them..They usually recover *knock on wood* very nicely all on their own. It's easier I believe for the males than the females. Not so major of an operation.
OOPS! Excuse me..we were told to give them no food or water after 10:00 the night before.

  5. Cricket was dropped off in the morning and I was able to pick her up that afternoon. We had to watch that she didn't lick her surgery area much but she was fine. I think we had to cut her food off the night before but at midnight or something like that. It was over 2 years ago so I don't really remember.

  7. Otis - MY MAN!!!

  8. kathyanne...giggling...hairless isn't the only thing his hiney is. lol

a/c...I also have a 'Spunky' (solid blk.& brother to Rusty & Misty). He truly lives up to his name. My fuzzies went to the spa in the morn. & were back home in the afternoon. They showed no signs at all of having anything 'snipped'. Altho with their sister Misty,I had to keep her caged for a few days so she couldn't tear her stitches. They all came out fine.

Your Spunky will too, I'm sure.

  9. So true Susie. He looks bow legged too from the back. He is much calmer now very vocal when returned

  10. Males get over it faster since it's not abdominal surgery. Once the anesthesia wears off completely he'll be fine.

  11. So I was planning on going to the SPCA to get Spunkie neutered... Doesn't look like that's gonna happen! They said that I have to get him two more sets of shots while waiting 3 weeks after each before I can get him neutered! Even though he just got some shots last week! So they're telling me it'll be 6 weeks before he can get neutered... Sounds ridiculous to me. Even worse, the first time I called the operator checked out the vet papers I faxed over and told me it would just be one set of shots and 3 weeks, but when I called back it went up to two more sets and 6 weeks and the woman refused to look at the vet papers!!! I think the staff there might not know what they're talking about... So frustrating. You'd think they'd be a little nicer and more helpful when someone's trying to be responsible and neuter their cat! ESPECIALLY at the SPCA!! >:(

  12. I'm sorry TAC that they are giving you the run around, is there anywhere else you can take Spunky? BTW how do you spell it Spunkie or Spunky??

    Posted 3 years ago by 2bpurring #

  13. My boyfriend wants his name to be unique lol so it's Spunkie. :) And I called the vet he was taken to before and they seem a lot nicer and more helpful (and it will cost a lot less). I can take him Monday! Shame on the SPCA though for that though. Even before I spoke to them it took me 3 days to try and reach anybody! Seems like they need some people who care a little more there.

  14. Glad you are taking Spunkie where he will get a more caring vet..and shame on the SPCA, but we do have to remember how they are so overwhelmed this time of year...

  17. Lol Rats indeed! I think he'll be fine though. And I want to do this before he gets the urge to spray all over!

  18. When it does finally happen, they usually tell you not to give them food or water the night before starting around like 8 or 9:00. My Vet releases them the same day if they are coming out of the anestesia okay. They are all different in prcedures and times. They should give you all that info when you schedual it, if not make sure you ask.

  19. Well they told me I can drop him off Monday night and pick him up Tuesday night. I just hope he won't be scared. :( He'll have his brand new kitty condo to come home to though! We're almost finished with it; we just need to finish carpeting it and attach some kitty toys. :) It's pretty cool and I designed it myself! I'll post pics when I'm done.

  23. Lol It's not as hard as you think! I actually got to use a Jigsaw, Power Saw, and regular saw for the first time!! lol Great learning experience and saves a ton of money. I'd have to say it cost us about $100 maybe a tad more to make.

Posted 3 years ago by theanimechick #

  24. LOL!!! 2b..I know the exact look you're talking about..the same one you get when you tell them you just poured their last beer into the pot of chili! :D

  26. TAC that is so cool..and you got to use power tools too! We would definatly love to see pictures when your done!! maybe you have found a new career!

  27. He will do fine after the surgery, be groggy for a bit and you have to remember that the male hormones won't be completely gone from his system for about 6 weeks or so, if he has any agression it won't calm down until then. Even after that it sometimes doesn't calm them down a lot, I have one that was neutered in Jan 08 and he is still a little bully putz boy!

Posted 3 years ago by AZDEBRA 5/27 & crew #

  28. He might be groggy but you are doing the best thing in the world for him!!! Besides you will have a little cuddle kitten for awhile. Deuter goes next month. He was so small that vet wanted to get some weight on him. Actually when vet first saw Nike and Deuter he thought they might not make it. TAC your are awesome--a kitty condo with your own bare hands!!!
