  1. Hi there,

I'm not really "new" to TDK but have lurked on and off since last year. Kamea was my little girl, and for those of you that remember Bo (TDKers donated $355.00 to his surgery fund and to get him to "Sharon in Austell"), We were the ones who fostered him while he was recovering from his surgeries, etc.
I'm fifteen and have fostered bottle babies for 4 years with my Mom, we usually have between 40-60 a summer. I have ten kittens right now (all on catster, if I did it right, you should be able to click my name to see catster pages). Sapphire, Jet and Sable are my cats (plus two that aren't on catster) and the other babies are fosters that I have or have had. You'll probably notice that I have a lot of bridge babies, this season has been very, very rough.

Anyways, just thought that I'd come and introduce myself!
    Take care,
    Brittany

  4. Wow, Brittany, you have your hands full. Just visited their catster pages. Bless you, sweetie, for your loving care, especially the ones who had to leave for the bridge.

  5. Hi, Brittany! Wow, you've fostered a lot of cats. I love Mickey's nickname, "Hey, stop eating that." Love to hear more about your cats and their stories.

  6. Wow, what a lot of kittens! I think I'd be unable to sleep with all that cuteness around. Thanks for doing this important work, which can be heartbreaking.

Where in TN are you located? I'm in Chattanooga and it looks, from one of the Catster photos, that you're fostering for one of the groups that shows kitties at PetSmart, where I was just visiting with Becky from C.A.T.S. yesterday. Are you in this neck of the woods?

  7. Hi Brittany! You and your Mom are absolute angels for taking care of all those foster kittens. The story about Bo is wonderful. I think he brought the TDK community closer together. I remember Kamea too. She is a very beautiful little tabby kit. It's so sad to see all the babies at the rainbow bridge. I wish more people would spay/neuter their pets. It's a huge responsibility to have pets. You and your Mom are doing a great job. Please give all the fosters an extra cuddle for us.

  8. Thanks for the welcome!
AngelaMotorman - We're actually in Memphis.... Chattanooga is about 5 hours away from where we are. My brother goes to college at UTC, so we're over there a good bit.
We foster for the Bartlett Animal Shelter (this year will be my fifth year volunteering, and fourth year fostering.) Petsmart donating the cages to the shelter has been an absolutely godsend. We can't keep the cages full! They adopt out of there incredibly fast. We've stopped adopting out animals from the shelter and only from Petsmart making the shelter kennels available for the ones who are sick, under weight, and/or waiting to be spayed or neutered.

  9. Angela, my uncle used to be a music prof. at UTC--he moved to Cali. about a dozen years ago and I have no idea where he is now. We went to visit him at his home in Signal Mtn.--drop dead gorgeous!

Brittany, I'm so glad you're in Memphis and not ObKnoxville. (I'm still smarting from the Dawgs' spanking yesterday--at least the Gators lost!) What I love about Memphis is that even the BBQ at the airport is great (which makes me wonder just how much better it would be if I ever got a chance to drive into town). I'm drooling just thinking about it!

  10. welcome, this is certaainly a wonderful group of people. I truly admire you for fostering kitties. I don't think I could let one go after bringing one in and falling in love. That must be the hardest part. I went to college in TN and have friends still in Nasville and have visited Memphis. It's one of my favorite states.

  11. Whew! At least you're not from ObKnoxville! My dad's (much-younger) cousin used to be a music prof. at UTC. Loved the aquarium!

I've only been to Memphis during a 1 hr. layover at the airport. As wonderful as the airport barbeque was, I can't imagine how heavenly the "real thing" in town must be!
