  1. ok this might sound strange but i just got this 6 week old kitten 3 days ago and he has a habbit of only sleeping on my bed and i would like him 2 sleep in a cat bed on the floor but he refuses and i tried everything is there anything i can do?

  2. You are talking to the wrong person here...I cannot sleep without a kitty on my bed and my sons also sleep with kitties.
Is this kitten an only kitten? He/she is probably lonely if he misses Mama and/or litter mates. If the bed is out of the question , you could try a stuffed animal to keep him company, but again, maybe others could give better advice as kitties are allowed in bed in our house.

  4. You may want to have him sleep on a soft towel or blanket in a cat carrier, in your bedroom, for another 4 to 6 weeks. At that time, he'll probably be a lot more agile and able to be more nimble in getting out of the way, when you move in your sleep.

Some cats are so attached to their owners that they sleep near their heads. That would reduce chance of injury, compared to sleeping by a torso or leg.

When he first gets to sleep with you, he'll learn when you're shifting weight that he should get out of the way. It only takes one or two times of near-squishing before they're very alert to this.

  5. Good luck on this one. I have learned that the cat will sleep where he wants! Enjoy him and move him near your head.

  6. Try putting his cat bed on your bed. Then you can move it to the top of the bed where he's less likely to get rolled on.

But remember, a kitten is just a baby. Think back to when you were really young and how nice it was to be cuddled up to someone.

  8. We have 2 baby kittens that we found last week around the same age. I had the same concern...about rolling onto them because they were so small. I put them in a small crate (I left it opened, so they could use the liter box and eat) with towels and put the crate in the bathroom at night. I also have a stuffed cat in their too...they seem to like that. I was worried they would get lost in the house or someone would accidently step on them if they were running around at night. During the day I leave the bathroom door open so they can get used to the area. So far my bed is their favorite!, but until they are a little older I put them back in the bathroom at night. Seems to be working out well! Good luck.

  9. Hi sjok, sounds like you really thought that one through, well done! The cuddly toy is the best idea, especially for single kittens, they seem to like beenie baby type ones the best. Hope SDA finds your advice useful, welcome to TDK both of you!

  10. Try putting a piece of your clothing, something soft, that has your smell on it, in his bed along with a stuffed animal. And if that don't work, then maybe you could try sleeping on the floor and let him have the bed.:) After all it is their world we are just the staff. Good luck!

  11. " Dogs have masters, cats have servants!" I think YOU will have to adjust to your kitten's withes, it's not YOUR bed anymore! MIne have learned to move when I move.

  12. Mine have also learned to restrain movement with a heavy paw laid on the offending portion that moved. And a serious yowl of protest.

Sheba's Mom, you spoke the truth!
