  1. ...or know how to alter the mix so it can be baked in a crock pot?

I hate turning on the oven in the summer, so every time I can I use the crock pot. And right now I have SUCH a craving for brownies, with walnuts, and a side of soft ice cream...

    Help!

  2. This is a great question, I also hate turning on the oven in the summer. Plus this would be so much more economical. I don't have a clue how to do it. If you don't get any answers, I would just make a regular batch and put it on high and watch it. Testing with a tooth pick or fork every so often. I'll be watching this thread for sure!!!

  5. Ingredients:
1/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
    1 cup chopped nuts
    1 large package brownie mix

    Directions:

Pour melted butter into 2-pound coffee can; swirl to butter sides. Sprinkle with half the nuts. Mix brownies according to the package directions. Pour half the batter into coffee can, covering nuts evenly. Add remaining half of nuts, then batter. Place can in Crock-Pot. Cover top of can with 8 paper towels. Cover and bake on High setting for 3 hours.

Do not check or remove cover until last hour. Remove can and discard paper towels. Let stand 5 minutes. Unmold and serve warm. Uses 3 1/2- or 5-quart Crock-Pot.

This recipe from CDKitchen for Brownies serves/makes 2 dozen

  6. Emma, I don't but I found this one. I am sure you could substitute Walnuts for the Pecans.

  8. Heavenly! First thing tomorrow I intend to fire up the crockpot. As for the success or failure...News at 11!

    And thanks so much!

  9. I wonder if a toaster oven could be used instead of a crockpot, they don't heat up the kitchen like a big oven. I used to bake biscuits in a toaster oven. Just a thought.

  10. Emma, did you ever try this?

  11. I tried to make the brownies directly in my crock pot, without using a coffee can or anythng like that. They turned out to be rather...uh...um...interesting.

The middle was gooey, the outside was cooked and crisp, so I scraped everything into a bowl. Some friends came over 10 minutes later and we finished it all off with vanilla soft serve ice cream.

So, yes I tried it, it was a success in an iffy sort of way, and the fellowship was great!

  12. I seen a recipe the other day for crockpot brownies but I can't find it again. Although, I did see a recipe for some fudgy raspberry brownies made in a slowcooker. Here's the address.
