  1. There are a few things that I would like to address in regards to TDK Fund.

Most imporantly, this is not part of the TDK proper. This Fund was created as a separate entity from TDK.

First, I apologize for being ill and being unable to answer questions as quickly as some members of the TDK would have like. However, I am better now and able to answer.

Second, The Fund was created to help members of our community that are in need. There is NO secrecy in this action. There is question of privacy, however. Cheetahboysmom has graciously offered to create a standard form for requests. On behalf of the committee, I gratefully accept her offer.

Third, when a request is made for help, it is asked that the person requesting assistance contact a member of the committee.

Please find the following mission statement in regards to the TDK Fund.

    MISSION STATEMENT
    And DONATION GUIDELINES

The Daily Kitten Fund, aka TDK Fund, is a website community of friends and cat (animal) lovers, and is an informal non-profit organization. We are dedicated to helping people and/or places who make an effort to care for animals and are unable to do so because of money constraints by giving them help in the form of a gift card or certificate, check, or other means of gifting.

Money for this fund will come from donations of the membership of The Daily Kitten viewers. Any member may make a donation, ask for a donation, or request a donation for a specific need. Distribution of said monies and amounts to be given will be determined by a majority vote of the Volunteer Committee, a committee comprised of TDK viewers who wish to participate.

The TDK fund, though entirely separate from a memorial fund for Chester’s Place at the Burke County Animal Shelter in Morganton, North Carolina, (a fund which was started in memory of our friend Jerry Smith, owner of Chester, who passed away earlier this year), will make a semi-annual donation to the Burke Co. Animal Shelter, monies permitting.

  5. So, (and apologies if this question has already been asked/answered and I've just missed it) - how do we donate to the fund? Is there a chip in type thingy? I (finally) have a paypal account, just not quite sure what to do with it unless told in nice, easy to follow steps, preferably containing words of one syllable!!!!

  6. MCW--all you have to do is go to your Paypal account, then choose make a payment, then put in the amount and put in Terri's e-mail address. That's it! Very simple.

  7. Good question MCW..I know we can email Terri or any committee member, but I'm not sure if they have something like a chipin site..that would make it very easy since I have a credit card and no checking account..(yes I know it sounds silly, but banks make me mad)

  8. Okay how do you set up a paypal??

    Posted 3 years ago by 2bpurring #

  9. 2b--just go to www.paypal.com and follow the instructions. I think you are able to put money in through a credit card, though I'm not sure because I did it through my checking account. Hope this helps! What's nice about having a Paypal account is that if you buy things on line, often times you can pay with Paypal.

  10. I set up a paypal almost by accident when doing one of the chip in things...it was only when I'd finished that I realised I now had one!! Really, I should NOT be allowed near technology...

2b, I'm guessing if you google paypal and head to their main site there must be some info on setting up an account.

  11. Don't worry, MCW, you've got a lot of friends here to help you out!

  12. Setting up PayPal is really easy. Just go to Paypal.com and follow their instructions. they have various options.

You can set it up so that you keep some money on account at PayPal, which would then be transferred right away when you want to make a payment. that is good if you are going to use it a lot, but I doubt you earn interest, so you wouldn't want to have a lot of money just sitting there.

You can set it up so that it will transfer money from your bank account. That is OK, but can take several days for the funds to actually transfer.

My preference is to have PayPal charge it my credit card. The payment then gets sent off right away, and the only issue is making sure that they have the correct expiration date.

  13. :-)

Are there plans to do some sort of monthly/regular report as to how much is in the fund? Apart from anything else, might be a good way to remind those who can to top up...

Posted 3 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  14. That's a good idea! Perhaps just a brief report posted each money stating how much was received in donations, how much was dispersed (without giving any personal details), and what the balance is. I think that that should take care of the transparency issues.
