    My senior year, the top votegetter for homecoming queen was a guy! He wasn't allowed to be crowned, but there was no maliciousness involved.

    "Jim" had two older sisters, both of whom had been elected Homecoming Queen their respective senior years. "Jim" was a class clown, but the kind who knew exactly how far to push without causing trouble. Everyone loved him.

    When the time came to nominate the Senior court (from whom the queen would be chosen), there was a massive write-in campaign to so that he wouldn't be the only kid in his family who wasn't Homecoming Queen. He got the most votes, which were thrown out by the admnistration, of course.

    We didn't do "Homecoming King," so that wasn't an option. Each member of every grade's court chose her own escort.

    "Jim" loved every minute of the non-campaign, and we felt privileged to be part of it.
