I start next Monday (25th)-- finally after 10 months, I can say I am employed. BUT! I am keeping my Sunday's working in the tasting room (winery) since it is so much fun :) I am happy and dread the 40 mile commute (actually 80 miles) to SF every day. Could be worse, I could hate the job AND be underpaid -- neither is true. The job is made for me and I will be able to pay my way again :) Hurahhhhhh! :) And Cato can start campaigning again :) Elizabeth

OMG! Elizabeth..commuting to San Fran??? Yikes....my ex used to make that commute...actually I think he still does..I'm happy for your job but please drive safely. I can't imagine the gas bill for that drive. I know Cato and Teddy are gonna miss you all the hours you'll be gone. Best of luck to you sweetie!

Karenopa, I'm going to drive to Vallejo and take the ferry. I've done some pretty fantastic commutes (time-wise) in my life. This is not the longest. It means I will have time to get my work done before work and to read a book a day. Cato is thrilled because he was tired of working as an accountant. He felt he made a better candidate than a bean counter :) He retired as soon as he heard the news :) Elizabeth

At least in San Francisco and surrounding areas, the public transport is excellent. And the time on the ferry can be very productive and/or very relaxing. Much better than spending the same amount of time in a car creeping over the bridges and memorizing the licenses of the cars in front of you.
Congratulations on the new job.

Awesome Elizabeth! I can also heartily recommend getting books on CD to listen to for the drive and ferry crossing. I am wroking my way through the Diane Mott Davidson books on CD and loving them. Best of luck with the new job!
