  1. I just want to encourage everyone still looking for work or just laid off of work to persist, persist, persist and take the time to do what ever it is you do to bring a little joy into your life :) After 10 months I got used to feeling blue at least once a week, but I managed to pull myself out when it got too bad. I applied for at least one job a day AND I contacted everyone I knew to see if they had any ideas for me. I do believe there is a job for everyone on this board :) Sincerely, Elizabeth

  2. Elizabeth I believe you are right. There is a job for everyone--one that is right for them. It is like finding the perfect partner--have to kiss a few toads. My prayers are with all looking for employment and a better job where they are treated with respect.

  5. Just got a call a little over half an hour ago--actually, for some odd but welcome reason, it went straight to my voice mail. It was a state-the-obvious call; I didn't get the job for which I interviewed 10 days ago. No duh, since they never returned my calls, and the new hire was to start 5 days ago.

And these are the people who are in charge of my son's education for the next 35 weeks. Hmmmm.

  6. Ginny, I love your avatar, keep your chin up! Have you thought about signing on with a temp agency for short term? I did that when I move to Birmingham in '92 and the first assignment was at a Travel Agency. It turned into a temp to perm situation and was one of the best jobs I have ever had and I stayed for 12 years until I moved back to Kentucky. I worked my way from temp receptionist up to management and learned everything on the job. Keep it in mind.

  7. Thanks, KyK--you might be on to something here. I even have trouble reaching the Vet Affairs person at the unemployment office who handles my case. Doesn't do much for the ol' self-esteem when you can't contact your assigned contact.
