For those of you who were asking, this is a really easy recipe for homemade apple butter
1 50oz jar & 1 25oz jar of unsweetened apple sauce
3 cups of sugar or Splenda
1/2 Tbsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp cloves
mix in crock pot and cook for 6-8 hrs on high

I can't wait to try this recipe!! There is this amazing little store about 25 minutes away on the Texas boarder that sells all this specialty things with apples. They have the most wonderful apple butter in the world. They also do cherry butter and peach butter. The place is called The Apple Shack. I will see if I can do this on my own. It would be nice to be able to have it done on my own in my house--the smell will be wonderful!

Sox's Mom- We have the same store here in Nashville, except it's called the Apple Barn. They have everything in sugar free varieties too, I pick them up for my Dad who is hypoglycemic. They have a bakery where you can get fresh apple pies, breads, turnovers, etc. Delicious!

The one thing this recipe isn't giving you, is the important bit that you really need to can that apple butter in a boiling-water-bath when you're done making it up. But gee, if you're going to eat it all up in a short time, go for it! Since the recipe calls for unsweetened applesauce, yeah, you add sugar or sweetener of your choice. 3 cups sounds like a lot though, I would start with 2 cups, mix it in well, and then add the last cup a little at a time (maybe a quarter cup at a time) until you achieve the sweetness you want.
