Well, I maybe got two hours of sleep last night. (Deb, why are we cursed with this insomnia??????) So I'm going to shut down my computer, go read for a while and maybe with a little luck I could get three hours of sleep tonight!

Oh, now I see it, SM. Goodness - that IS scary. Hoping that they are all caught soon.

It is the MAXIMUM security inmates that escaped. Interesting isn't it. They are all violent offenders. Got to love the fact that we can keep the ones that shop lift behind bars but the ones that kill are on the loose!! Now there is evidence it is an inside job--help from a detention officer--big suprise there!!

Hi Lynn. I am actually starting to get angry over the whole situation. We have had a few escapes in the past few months and at least 3 detention center officers caught dealing drugs. I am about sick of this. Someone said to "stop the hug a thug mentality" and I am beginning to agree! The detention center is a nicer faucility than most of the peoples homes! That is a problem. It isn't Club Med!

I am sorry that you are dealing with such a terrible situation, SM. Not to compare the 2, yours being more critical than mine, but here in our park, people drinking, leaving kids alone in the house, driving with said children in the car drunk, they don't get caught, CYS or the equivalent, call before they come, so what are you going to find to protect the children. When the government is corrupt, those of us who abide by the rules have no recourse, but to suck it up and deal. No wonder we all hide. Sorry to vent my frustration on your problems, I apologize. I am sure the facility is nicer than most homes, probably nicer than those around me. Stay safe and keep your eyes open. Hugs, Mama Lynn

Might be time to redesign the facility's security to make it hard/impossible for any one person on the inside to assist inmates in escaping. Yikes!

Ange, I am glad you got Max's insurance policy. I know that is a great deal off of your mind. God willing you will never need it!

Glad the insurance came through for MaxMax, Ange. That must be a relief for you! :)

Good point, KW, but how many of our prison systems and juvinile systems are corrupt. I read about them frequently here. Not that it is that way countrywide, but it does seem to be a problem. Let's hope in SM area, something this time gets done.

yes KW and Mama really relieves my worries! I keep hearing how Tkder's were struggling to pay vet bills for illnesses and things and I was like that could be me, so for 40 bucks a month my mind will be relieved and know anything i SPEND UP TO 90% will be remebursed! So much more settled now!
I just wish people could get such affordable health coverage!

Are you adjusting to your reduced hours at work, Lynn? I think three day weekends are just about perfect! (A 20% pay cut is not though.)
Amen to that, Ange! Affordable health care for people--what a concept!

Lynn I think that is part of the problems we see with kids. Young kids and very young, barely adults are having babies and have no idea what they are in for. Just leave the kid and continue to party. The kid grows and does the same thing. Learned behavior. I have seen some of the houses these kids live in--some in unimaginable filth. I am a slob but I don't live in filth. Everything maybe coated in dust but the dishes are done and the garbage goes out. Many kids don't have those things done. They grow up in filth thinking that is the way to live. Learned behavior. It is never their fault if the government gave them a way to make a living they could be something else. It is vicious trying to break this cycle.

KW husband is looking for a new job. This is just too much. He is not too happy about the prospects and realizes a pay cut will probably happen, but he is sick to death of these work hours. He was told they will be there until 1am at least. That makes it a 17 hour day and he has to be back in before 8am. By the time he drives home he will have 5 hours to eat and sleep then will have to get up and go back.

My reduced hours don't start til after the Labor Day holiday, KW, but with my 8 and 1/2 day today, I was on my feet from the time I went in til I left. I would not have accomplished half of that with cut hours, and then having to roll it into the next day, Lord only knows when I will catch up.
I still am of the belief that they want me out. Since they can't outright fire me, don't want to lay me off and have no other recourse than this, here is where we stand. I think I could collect unemployment for the hours I am missing, but won't push that button just yet. If the hours get cut more, I will look into it.
I will still work 5 days a week, 9-3:30 m-thurs and 9-1 Friday. Can't say I don't like the hours, just don't like the pay cut. Thanks for asking.
And yes, wouldn't affordable health care be just wonderful!

I've seen lots of teen parents who just aren't ready for the responsibility. Last week I sentenced a young woman convicted of Recklessly Endanger Another. The person endangered was her infant child. She left the child with someone down on the mall she'd just met because she wanted to go to a bar with a friend. It was very cold that night. She came back to the spot the "babysitter" agreed to meet her at to return the child. The babysitter and child were not there. She waited for 40 minutes in the cold before learning that the infant was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for hypothermia. Thank God, the child was fine. The young mother had otherwise taken excellent care of this child. The Department of Human Services/Child Welfare is now involved. I hope she remembers this wakeup call!
