   Not all that many, most likely (apex predator, island species). Habitat destruction could be a serious problem, especially if not enough tourism income develops from the discovery.

   (Personally, I'd take the numbers for populations on Borneo and Sumatra with a huge grain of salt, or at least go with the lower numbers of the ranges they suggest.)
