I'm going out shortly, but if you keep this bumped til Metsa sees it, & I'll email Rubia & PM to point them in this direction. What date(s) are you looking at Miu?

Oh I would love to visit Scotland myself and meet all of you European TDKers. Wish I could swing it. Not unless I win the lottery it won't happen anytime soon.

I don't know if I can make it in December - Christmas and the lead up to it are very busy for me. I practically live at Church (lots of advent services and extra choir practices), but if you let me know a time and date I'll see if it's possible.

Woo hoo! Right, I'm off to rumage through the cheap flight sites, see what sort of prices they're talking about. :-)
Metsa, thanks for the offer of accomodation, not sure at the moment if I'll try to do it in a day or not, but may have the husband with me, so we'd look for a Travelodge or something similar. Plus I've got some family in Dundee, so may combine with seeing them. Might need some help with transport though!!
I remembered another Brit TDKer - MarthasMummy - think she's in Birmingham - whaddaya reckon MM?

Hmmm - hadn't checked the actual days that corresponded to those dates!! - see it's Sunday - Wednesday. Miu, what would be the better day/time for us to aim for?

...as an example, there is a flight from East Midlands airport to Edinburgh early Monday 8/12 evening, and a return flight on the Tuesday evening - for a total of £41...(but I may need that sofa bed after all Metsa!!!!)

Lol! well the sofa bed is a double :). Unfortunately no cats here of my own, but I can try to 'borrow' a neighbours cat to make you feel settled if you like :). If you'd rather have a hotel, b and b or something, I can try and advise about the ones here. I'll give whatever advice i can on transport too, I haven't used Ed airport much but I know there are buses that go there from right outside the tain station. Which is itself right next to Princes Street :).

Thanks metsa! Want to take a note of my email address? It's jennifer (no space) berezai at btinternet dot com - might come in handy nearer the time! And don't worry about getting any cats in to make me feel at home!!

Oooooh - I love Edinburgh! I will certainly try to come if I possibly can. I believe I do still have a couple of days holiday that I have not yet booked... LOL - silly me - I was thinking of driving! I should know better - we just got back from No. Ireland via south-western Scotland, and it was a good 7-hour drive from the ferry port in Scotland. Plane and/or train is a much better idea! :-D

Hi SoxsMom! Ireland was great! We were in Northern Ireland, which was very interesting, given that the "Troubles" really only ended there a few years ago. The weather was rubbish most of the time, but that was expected. We still had a great time though. I will post a proper update tomorrow... I'm knackered this evening! We were up very early this morning in order to make the ferry from No. Ireland back to Scotland - and then there was the 7-hour drive! Time for a glass or 2 of wine - and then a good night's sleep in my own bed! Yay!

I was chatting to Miu on the Cafe thread earlier - she's going to try and get some firm details of her schedule as soon as she can. At the moment all that's known is that she lands on the Sunday afternoon/evening, and returns on the Thursday.

Any more news Miu?

I won't tell you what a Scottish colleague of mine says about Dundee (it's where she comes from) but it has to do with below the waist body parts.
I've never been so I can't comment, but I love Edinburgh.

My hairdresser here in NZ is originally from Dundee and I believe he has said similar things! But some of my family originated from Dundee according to rumours - have even seen pictures of the ancestral family castle in Dundee - not very impressive I must say. More of a tower than a castle!

While I was in France I visited a really lovely castle. I'll try to put a link to a photo. Be patient!
