  1. Thanks for the commentary on black folks' hair. My grandson has it, and I've been somewhat perplexed as to how to take care of it. Will regular olive oil work? Or is it ok to just "wash and dry"?

  3. Bobbi, your grandson's hair is fine like it is. If he lets it grow out, he'll probably have "Slash" hair, but if you keep it short it will just be very wavy. He would be characterized as somebody with 'good' hair.

  4. I loved it, Vicki! I got busy blogging today, too. The job search has taken all my time lately, so I couldn't let my "day off" today pass without a new entry: http://catoninetales.wordpress.com/2008/09/05/a-pleasant-surpriseto-a-point/

  5. Aristabobbi, I wouldn't use the extra-virgin stuff, unless you want your grandson smelling good enough to eat. :) Seriously, you can pick up an olive oil-based hair and skin oil at Walgreens, Target, Sally Beauty Supply (my favorite, even though they also have the chemicals intended for professional cosmetologists, too), - virtually anywhere. Like I said, don't yank too hard on the hair so he won't cry, "Grandma, that hurts!" I didn't address the needs of boys and men because they tend to keep their hair shorter to begin with and because their fathers and grandfathers usually take them to barber shops.
