   I have a friend that lived upstate when she moved into her house she heard these screams at night and thought someone was being killed outside! So she called the police! The officers came and heard the screams and started laughing... The sound was a screech owl!

   Well it's good to know your friend called the police...I have done first year pscyh and we learnt that it is extremely common (espeically in cities and highly populated areass) that people just ignore when others might be help.

   It's funny and maybe a little embarrasing but your friend did the right thing!
