  1. We are running out of gas in northern Volusia Co. Daytona Beach Fl. Our gas station out of gas (so they say) and Bob went up towards I-95 on US 1 and paid 3.95 and they had 4 pumps out of gas. Conspiracy theory??? There are reports of $5.02/gal in Orlando. How y'all doing? I suggest doing a fill up if you are anywhere near empty.

  2. Oh indeed, S&OM... gas went up 25 cents from yesterday morning to last night after work. I found a place for 3.39 (wawa) and filled up. Haven't been out yet today, but I think it's playing on fears with the hurricane. Greed. Lots and lots of greed out there. Praying for all in Ike's path. Off to do some cleaning.

  3. Gas went up $.70 cents yesterday,I know it's about Ike but it seems like gouging to me.

  4. The oil and gas industry was closely watching Ike because it was headed straight for the nation's biggest complex of refineries and petrochemical plants. Fears of shortages pushed wholesale gasoline prices to around $4.85 a gallon, up from $3 earlier in the week.

At least eight refineries were shut down ahead of the storm but it was too soon to know how they fared.

  5. But we only get about 6 percent of our consumable oil from our US refineries. I could see it if it were 50 percent or more, but 6 percent? Come on. Grrrrr...

  7. ya know, even Larry King asked a reporter in the field last night, "how can the price go up before the hurricane has even hit?!" The reporter replied, "good question!"
