I am dying for a bath, my feet are killing me and i want a soak. But I can't get the darn bath plug to work. It's a rapid-fit brand which upon googling we found is a "Snap and Press Stopper" I have pushed, pulled and rotated the darn thing to death (found ewwwy last residents hair in the process).
HELP! How do we work it?!

Gosh, I hope you figure it out. I don't want to pick you up tomorrow if you smell bad. LOLLLOLLOL
P.S. What's your apartment number? and I'll be in a BMW (white, blue or maybe aqua).

Of course Jim-man can come along. He's going to have to sit on those couches.

Or sleep on them if he's in trouble!

Darn foreign plumbing! Have you noticed the water going round the other way down the plughole yet?

Also here's a video tutorial library on how to do just about everything that you might find useful. I do,they're pretty good. I'm sorry I laughed earlier,I'm sure you're very tired and just wanted a bath. I know how that feels. Welcome again. :)

the toilets suck because they are 'low-flow' toilets, they changed a few years ago to require all homes/apartments have them.

What a way to start your adventure, Airy. You have a bathtub and can't use it to take a bath. That seems almost cruel! :D
How wonderful that you get to meet a TDKer in the US within 48 hours of arriving. What a great family we are!

Airy, I hope you figured out your bath plug problem. Maybe CBM can come in and figure it out when she picks you up. I hate those low flow toilets...we don't have them in our house thank goodness.
CBM...bring your camera, we want to see you and Airy and Jim :)Posted 3 years ago by cricketsmama #

At least you can shower Airy. Glad you are safe and sound in your apt finally!

We're quite happy with our apartment. It's small, but not too small (OK, the bathroom could be larger). Two bedrooms (one medium and one large) a spacious lounge and a bigger than I need kitchen. Just that darn plug, the thermostat doesn't seem to do anything (have to ask about that too) and we can hear the people above us moving around are the problems.
All things we can easily get used too :) -
Oh yea...apt living can be a small pain with neighbors and their noises, but some you can get used to. Glad you are happy with it overall!

Airy, I can't help you with American plumbing (I can barely master UK plumbing!), but can share a story which might make you smile...when we went on holiday last year we were plagued by all sorts of delays, and to cut a (very) long story short by the time we got to the hotel I'd gone nearly 40 hours on zero sleep and just wanted to go to bed. In the morning, I *really* needed a shower, but try as I might, I couldn't get the temp above tepid. It wasn't a good shower. Chris then went in, and yelped that it was too hot. Further investigation showed that the tap I'd thought was cold - because it was marked with a C - was hot. Belgian hotel, chaud = hot...

Same thing in Mexico, MCW: C="caldo" (hot) and "H"=helado (literally, "frozen", but it keeps the manufacturers from having to retool to "F," which is the proper Spanich word for cold--frio--since so much American stuff is made in Mexico and vice-versa).
I just know the hot one is to my left and the cold one is to my right when I face the spigot. Just don't get me started on single-lever faucets!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Airy to the fun of having neighbors. Make a note that if and when you lease is up, that you try for a top unit. I am in the same boat myself with having neighbors above me that seem to have a "dropsy" issue. They drop things quite often and also walk around like they a huge people. The worst part is my upstairs and my downstairs neighbors like to fall asleep to their television going. I have gotten use to them but sometimes they are too loud. Also my unit faces a courtyard where everything seems to echo and we have people coming and going a lot. Sometimes it just gets way too noisy. Today I heard the property manager mention to someone on the phone that a third floor unit might be available soon. I don't think my property manager will allow me to move to it but doesn't hurt to drop a note asking about the possibility in the near future.
