Ok - I'm technically still in Nightshift mode as its 10.15pm Wednesday night here but Cricketsmama is awake and brewing coffee so I'll start the cafe. Not sure of the protocol as I never normally do this! But here goes - bacon sizzling, cereal popping, toast toasting and coffee brewing. Anyone want French toast?

thanks for the french toast & bacon, no headache is still plaguing me today and then found out they want me to come in tonight for overtime, sigh. Thought I would actually get my two days off, told them I had to leave early though on Thursday morning since I have a vet appt for Haje.

That is an interesting article. I wish they could cure them though. As I am sure you wish too.

Oh yeah, it would be nice, I have considered trying the Botox treatments but that means that I would have to pay for them myself and they only allegedly work for 6-9 months.

Botox huh...I don't know if I would do those, but if it helps..Probably at a nice price too.

I have heard they are about $500 a shot, its in the forehead which stops the muscles from constricting/expanding during the migraines, a side effect is no wrinkles in the forehead during that time (lol).

I use Maxalt melts...tablets that melt under your tongue. Taste minty. Works in about fifteen minutes if I catch the nasty headache early. For nausea I have compazine. Both are RX medications.
I find that a warm compress at the back of my neck seems to relax the tight muscles. COLD doesn't work, it constricts the blood vessels even more and then I vomit :-(
I have a tube filled with brown rice and flax seed (I made it) and I heat it in the microwave for 3 minutes and it stays warm for nearly an hour. One of those on the back of my neck, and another for my eyes/forehead, and a migraine is easier to tolerate.

Morning ladies, I see KK was up late and opened the cafe. That's a first. Just had my weekly fix of Torchwood and waiting for Shadz to come inside from going 'walkies' in the rain.

Wotcha. Very interesting artcicle Deb, thanks for posting. I seem to get about three different types of migraine, two pain-free (but rare) and one painful (very!)
'Tis lunchtime here in the UK, and I've just had to wrestle a banana into submission before it would allow itself to be peeled.

MCW, isn't that an uneven wrestle, you're bigger and it's also yellow.

Now cold compress' will work on me, the hot doesn't, the tubes with rice and flax seed make me nauseous because of the smell when heated, actually almost any smell when I have one will make me nauseous and normally end up loosing it....I have taken almost everything except for Topomax, currently using the nasal spray Imitrex, propranol as a daily preventative, singulair, Phenergan for nausea. Smells, lights, wind, weather pressure systems all can set mine off or I wake up in the middle of one.

Hi Siobhan, MCW and MS!

Good morning! Sorry to hear that some of you are suffering from migraines. I have been fortunate not to have had one in a very long while, but I have a niece and cousin who get them. Basically, they just have to stop functioning and take care of it and let the pain work itself out.
I'm drooling over the French toast *searching for apricot syrup*.
Deb, I can not understand why work has to interfere with our lives. I've always said that I could do so much more volunteer work if I didn't have to work for a living. LOL Oh, well...gotta keep the kitties fed.Posted 3 years ago by LadyKat of IA #

MS - it was one TOUGH banana!!! And CM - there are no witnesses, I am alone in the office...
Sorry about your toothache metsa, hope you've drugged yourself up on paracetamol.
And hello everyone else! I shall try and pop in and out this afternoon, like I said, on own in office but there are peeps about. Plus I'm leaving at 4 to get Pickle & Button to the vets (anti flea treatment regular appt) so have a lot to do before I go!

MCW, hmmmmm wrestling with a banana, at least you WON!!! As for the migraines, sitting here reading some of the side effects on the nausea meds I take, some of them seem worse than just throwing up... http://www.webmd.com/migraines-headaches/guide/migraines-headaches-nausea-medications
Hurry but be careful Lainey!
Metsa, ouch :(
