  1. Karin's right, I need to vent!

I have had a really rubbish day, starting with my 14th consecutive day of trying to stave off a migraine, getting worse in the middle with an unexpectedly high garage bill for my little car, and ending with the news that Mum has cataracts and will need YET MORE surgery in the new year (for those that don't know, she's alreay spent a total of 3 months in hospital this year, and is due to go back next week for a further 10 days - all different problems).

I need chocolate, I need hugs, and I need an abundance of cute fuzzbutts to cheer me up (mine are all upstairs asleep and ignoring me).

  2. *gives MCW a BIG {{{HUG}}}, piles chocolate bars, chocolate cakes and chocolate desserts over her and garnishes her with a dozen TDK-quality kittens.*

    Feel any better?

  3. MCW, I'm sorry your kitties are fast asleep. I'm sure they don't mean to be ignoring you! Here, you can borrow my kitten Violet for a while. She's learning to talk to people, and she likes to snuggle up in people's laps, then fall asleep. Her eyes still look scared sometimes, but she's learning that people are good for petting. :-)

    And here's a friendly virtual hug! {{hug}}

Oh, and here's about 2 pounds of Belgian chocolates from Piron's. (Best doggone chocolate I've ever had.)

  4. Huge hugs and affectionate head-butts to you MadcatwomanintheUK! Please feel free to help yourself to the various selections on the chocolate platter that I brought. You may find the chocolate dipped strawberries or the dark chocolate dipped oranges (my favorite) deliciously Divine!
I know about migraines, and I sympathize!

  5. Aww MCW. A big hug to you. I am sorry you are having a rough day and that you are not feeling well. I understand what it feels like to have a migraine as I get one of them at least two to three times a year. My Mom tells me that I need to find homeopathic ways of dealing with them before I resort to medicines and doctors. She seems to think that what I am ingesting is the cause of them.

I know what you mean when you find a nasty surprise of a bill. I had that three months ago when the IRS said I owed them for 2001, 2002, and 2003 because of stock options that I had sold and apparently not reporting my income accurately. I know I paid them but I didn't keep good records until 2004 and so now I am feeling the pain. Maxed out credit card to pay the bills so I wouldn't get hit with the IRS enormous penalties and interest. Hopefully your company that houses your car will allow you to pay it over monthly period instead of all at once.

I am sorry your Mom is going through a tough time with her health. Hope that things will get better for her.

Take a deep breath and Sylvester says he will let you hug him (although not for too long as he doesn't like to be held. You can rub his belly though as he loves belly rubs).

  6. *feels all snuggly and severely overdosed on chocolate & kitty love*

    Thanks guys!

  7. *accepts quick belly rub with Sylvester, tries not to disturn Violet in the process, or any of the top notch kittens lined up by miu*

Oh and Karin - my credit card will let me pay the garage bill off over a few months!!

  8. Mmmmm, chocolate dipped strawberries, thanks Caddycat! Just as well my migraines are caused by stress and not chocolate... ;-)

  9. Sorry to hear it! *hugs, pauses for sending Pierce and several very fuzzy kittens to bring chocolate and play*

  10. Is there anything better in life than being swamped with kittens & chcoclate?

    NO!!!

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  11. Heading for bed now, so regretfully I shall hand back all the on loan cats, and stop gorging on chocolate. Thanks for all the friendly comments, here's hoping for a good night's sleep. See you tomorrow!

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  12. Sending pleasant thoughts your way while you sleep. Let us know how you are feeling tomorrow. It's bad enough to have a migraine, and then have other concerns trying to cram themselves into your poor head.
Hopefully, the combined concern of the TDK'ers will help.

  14. Sleep well, and as Orphan Annie says "tomorrow, tommorow!" Love Terri and hugs too

  15. MCW
So sorry you're fighting a migraine. I can do nothing but go to bed when that happens. I loan you Watson to stay by you while you sleep. He is a purr butt, and likes to snuggle. But beware, during the night, when you hear crashing and thumbs, just know that it is only Watson, letting off some of that bali energy.
Healing energy, purrs and headbonks coming your way.

  16. So sorry to hear you are stressed. Please know that there are many that are sending you positive thoughts and many prayers for strength and peace. Remember that is one of the wonderful things about the TDK family--we are here to vent to and here to send postive healing energy.

  17. Sorry to hear it has all come down on you at once like this. Venting is good, much better than bottling it up until you explode - I can say that from experience.

This may be silly, but the wife gets migraines a lot too and Advil migraine works wonders for her so if you haven't tried it, maybe it could help some

Quazo and Mitsto send head bonks to you

Posted 4 years ago by Instinct #

  18. Funny you said that Instinct. Daughter has been under a pediatric nuerologists care since age 3 for migraines and believe it or not Advil works better than the narcotics they used on her at first. When you are 3 it is hard to articulate pain. By the way good to see you made the move okay. Peace to Intuition.

  19. I get migraines as well. Last one I had, I took Advil Migraine and went to bed. My cat Biddy proceeded to curl up around my head. I woke up a few hours later and the headache was completely gone! He is now my healer cat because I haven't had a migraine since that day!

Posted 4 years ago by liz mom of 4 #

  20. lizmomof4, gotta love the healer cats....and the Advil Migraine...

  21. Reporting back : well, it wasn't a bad night's sleep, work was better today than I thought it would be, and Mum seems better too. I did have to resort to a migraine tablet late morning, (the UK brand name for the one I have on prescription is Zomig - you take one when you start feeling it hit and it (usually) zonks it), and it managed to fend off the beast again. They come in clusters, most often when I'm stressed (so that's been the whole of this year really), and the tablets are pretty good at keping them under control - but when one does slip in under the wire, the only way to get rid is dark, quiet and sleep.

So, all your positive thoughts and headbonks and gratefully returned borrowed cats seem to have done the trick, at least for now!

So, if England can just beat Russia tonight in the footie (soccer to you!), that'd be just dandy!

Hugs, purrs, headbonks and ankle wraps - xx

  22. I'm so glad to hear that your migraine has passed. I used to get them. I recall very well the curling up in a fetal position under the covers of my bed in a darkened room. I hope your stress lessens so you get fewer of these beasts! {{{hugs}}}

  23. *hugs to you MadCatWoman*

I'm glad your migraine went away. My brother (yes, he's a strange one, as males don't usually get migraines) gets those. My heart goes out to him every time I hear he's having one or he's had one (he lives far far away). My heart went out to you too, hon.

Posted 4 years ago by HuddysMama #

  24. Hi - I hope you feel better soon. Figures, when one is a bit under the weather, all kinds of stuff happens. And the cats ignore you. Remember, you are nobody untill you've been ignored by a cat! Feel better, and accept cyberhugs and purrs.

Posted 4 years ago by JoanfromNewJersey #

  25. They made up for it overnight - Button slept on me, and Eric escorted me to the bathroom at 2am!!

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  26. Sorry guys...yet another migraine tablet today (thankfully it worked again), Mum's worse and I'm taking her to the doctor's tomorrow. Please God let it just be a bug that'll pass and not prevent her from going into hospital next week.

On the plus side, my moggies are being nicer to me today (Button slept snug up against me last night, I was breathing through her fur!), and husband is helping me out with the garage bill. Oh, and I'm finally getting on top of things at work.

    And it's Friday tomorrow!

  27. Migraine's suck, sorry it's being so stubborn.

    Good luck to your Mom.

Posted 4 years ago by JenniferSigman #

  28. Thinking positive and healing thoughts for your Mom, MCW. Hope she is okay. Sorry to hear another migraine is occuring for you. Glad to hear your "moggies" were being nicer to you. Sylvester sends hugs and purrs. He says that if your kitties ignore you anytime soon, he is available for more belly rubs.

  29. Sorry, just realised there's something here that won't make sense - Mum's diarrhoea also returned on Tuesday, abated yesterday, and is back with a vengeance today. It's this that caused her to be in hospital for so long earlier this year, and this that could prevent her planned admission next week.

And on a totally selfish note - for which I apologise in advance - if we can't keep this date, and they put it back by much (UK NHS is not very good at scheduling things in a hurry), it will probably totally scupper our plans for a holiday later this year, which we both really, really need. Dammit.

Posted 4 years ago by MadcatwomanintheUK #

  30. Is there any other relative that might be willing to help with your mum while you take a break? It's not selfish of you to want a holiday. It is self care. Caregiving for a loved one can be brutally hard at times--especially over a long period of time without a break. {{{hugs}}}
