Deb, the cancer was confirmed, but they are trying treating it with medication first. He was doing pretty well, but the meds have run out and now he has more bad days than good (he spent 1/2 hr retching in our guest bath last night, pobrecito).
The doc can't fit him in for another 10 days--which sounds a bit fishy to me. The kid is suffering, for Pete's sake can't he call in an Rx or refer him to a colleague with an opening in the schedule? How many pharmaceutical reps will he see but can't see a sick kid? Grrrrr.

KW, I hate health maintenance but gotta do it, sigh.
Ale, they are treating Max for hyperthyroidism because he lost about 1/3 of his weight in one month, at least now he has perked up a bit and actually eats a little bit when I feed him.
Ginny, thats one reason I don't like some of the doctors, I work with a guy who has his brain stem scraped every 3 months and they always tell him he has to wait for his appointments to refill his meds. I feel for El Ese and hope that the yuckkiness passes or at least eases up.

she gets the special kidney diet canned food right now and she seems to really like it
I give her a third of a can at night and the rest in the morning to eat throughout the day and then close her in the room so the other cat cant bother her

Max is doing fine! he has two sides right now! Bounce off the walls fo hours or deep napping for hours hahahahah! And I was able to comb him out some but not much you know where! He ain't lettign anyone around there, can't really blame him! While combing him I checked him over made sure no mats or redness or swelling and such! There are new pix's of him shaved in patches and his clown collar on multiply!!

Glad to hear the little man is doing fine, Ange. His snipping hasn't seemed to slow him down any!
I'm sending some of that TDK white light to el Ese, Ginny. This is not something one so young should be going through. I agree that the doc should be able to prescribe something until the next course of treatment is decided. Maybe a call to the MD's nurse or physician's assistant would prompt a quicker response.

Thanks, KW. Things get further complicated by the fact that he is here in Austin going to school, the doc is at MD Anderson in Houston, and his mom is doing all the coordination. She only speaks Spanish (although El Ese is bilingual), and I wonder if part of the problem is the language barrier. Then again, I know that there must be a jillion other Spanish speakers who need the services at MD Anderson. I just hate to see him suffer.
