I recently aquired a small kitten (mother abandoned it on my boyfriends doorstep), assuming its age is about 4 weeks old. Eyes are open, so are his ears. He's still kinda clumsy, but he runs around and plays. He's incredibaly adorable. I've had him for 2 days now. He's eating fine, I'm mixing up some kitten replacement formula with some fancy feast canned food, warming it, and he LOVES it. He has peed for us several times, even used the litter box on his own, (we put him in, but he dug a little hole and went for us). Since we've gotten him though, he hasn't pooped. He isn't bloated, so I'm not thinking worms. He's peeing without our assistance, so stimulation apparently isn't necessary (though we've tried... boy... have we tried). He doesn't feel compacted or lumpy or anything. His belly feels fine. He is still acting, perfectly fine. He just isn't pooping. I was trying to see if there was some little trick or something we could do. Some sort of laxative maybe? Or would that do too much harm to his little belly?
Anywho. I was just going to see if I could do something at home, before dragging the little guy to the vet to check him out. I'd hate to spend a ton of money to find out I was rubbing his belly in the wrong spot or something! LOL
But anywho. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Kitten isn't pooping...

Kittens don't poop on a regular schedule - he may go two or three times one day then not at all for a day or two. He may bless you tomorrow and the vet won't be necessary.
If you are rubbing his belly, though, you are rubbing the wrong spot. Use a warm wet washcloth and gently rub his actual butt. It's the stimulation on the anus that does the trick.
He sounds like a cutie. Post some pictures when you can. Most of us use Catster 'cause its free and easy. http://www.catster.com/cats/

A trip to the vet is a good idea to make sure your kitten is healthy. Cats can get feline leukemia and feline aids which is highly contagious to other cats. Kittens should be tested and immunized against these diseases. I'm glad he is eating so well! Have you decided on a name?

I've heard this, but I wasn't sure if two days was too much or not... Our kittens have generally always been pretty good about going on a regular basis.
Yeah, I realized I wrote belly... we are rubbing his bum, not his belly. XD Lol. Sorry for the mix up there.
Heres a pic of the little guy.
http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd360/ranibphotos/Fip10.jpgI'll try IMG Code and Direct Link, in case one doesn't work.
His name is Fip. It stands for Flarg, Ike, Puppy... There is reason behind this. There is a lolcats.com ( http://i531.photobucket.com/albums/dd360/ranibphotos/lolcatsdotcomgxz3naz98orsgsux.jpg ) Which I thought looked rather like him, and was insanely cute, so thats what I named him. Well. BF's mom found him... so she named him Ike (for the hurricane that just swept though Texas, hit us all pretty hard, and it was during the hurricane that mama cat dumped the little guy. So she INSISTED I name him Ike... he just doesn't look like an Ike to me. Then, the little guy started chewing on me... and the table... and anything he can sink his teeth into, so BF says, "He's not a kitten! He's a puppy!" So, instead of choosing one name, I chose them all, and he became Fip, or Fippers. :) And of course various other nicknames. Tee hee.

Heya Rain,
Still no poop? Hmm...did you check areas around the litter box or maybe some hidden spots around the house? I mean, you never know, he could have just poop somewhere else.

Tuttibella is right. When Sneakers first came to live with us, he was sooooooo good about peeing in his box. It wasn't until about three days later that I discovered his little stash of baby-poops behind the couch.
BTW - I did discover that a liberal sprinkling of whole cloves behind the couch sent him scurrying for his litter box.

We have Updates!!! Sorry I've been busy and wasn't online yesterday. WE HAVE POOP!!! He pooped at about 10:30am yesterday!! YAY!!!! It was very normal looking kitten poo... and he's using the litter box without any help from us. We just have to keep an eye on him to make sure theres no snacking on the litter. But yes. We were all very happy!!! Thanks so much all of you for your support and suggestions! And Fip thanks you too! (at least I'm assuming thats what that bite on my arm just now was about. ;) )
