  1. All the video from your post on gas shortages got me looking to see who all is still on the Atlanta News from the days when I lived there. Except for my time in the Air Force, and two years when Hubby was working in Greenville, SC, I lived in the Athens area and got local news on Channel 2 (NBC until 1976, then became an ABC affiliate), Channel 5 (the CBS affiliate, apparently Fox now), or, on rare occasions because they were always 3-4 tiers below 2 and 5, Channel 11 (the other side of the network swap with Channel 2.

"They" (those ubiquitous powers that be) told us before the Olympics in 1996 that if we could leave town, to do so. I not only left, I moved. I haven't been back since, although not from lack of desire.

Anyway, it was interesting to see who's still there--some all the way from my childhood--and even the number of staff who are now at different stations!

    On Channel 2, there's:

"St. Monica" Kaufaman (except now her last name is Pearson)
    John Pruitt
    Glenn Burns
Richard Belcher (whom I remember on Channel 5)
    Jocelyn Dorsey
Mark Winne (whom I remember on Channel 5)
"Little Bill" Hartman--CW, you've broken my heart by letting me see that "Little Bill" has aged. Everyone in Athens calls him "Little Bill" to distinguish him from his daddy, "Big Bill" Hartman, who coached all those All-America and All-Pro kickers for all those decades. "Big Bill" died 2 1/2 years ago the day before his 91st birthday, and I still can't imagine the Bulldogs without Coach Hartman. *waaah!*

On Channel 5 (which was my favorite) there is:

    Ken Cook
    Amanda Davis
    Morse Diggs
    Aungelique Proctor
    Russ Spencer
    Randy Travis
    Paul Yates

I'm trying to imagine Channel 5 without Jim Axel. Dale Clark, who used to do the editorials (remember when TV news broadcasts had editorials?) was the father of my HS band director. I'm sure Dale has long since passed.

There were even a few familiar names at Channel 11 (even though it was only a joke--and a bad one--all the time I spent there). They are:

Brenda Wood (who was the anchor at Channel 5 with a guy you just knew at first glance was going to make it big named Forrest Sawyer)
Paul Ossman (also from Channel 5)

I'd never heard of anyone at the new CBS affiliate--where is it, Channel 46?!? My, how the Tiffany Network has tarnished!
