  1. Mogley got two new toys this weekend. One is a puff ball and bell on a spring that sits on a base so he can play while we're at work all day. The other is a laser light and he LOVES it! He's going nuts for this thing and seems to never get tired of chasing it. He chases it so much that after a while I can hear him breathing hard so I give it a rest before we start playing again. Do any of you have these for your kitties? I like it because it gets him a lot of exercise but I'm a driving him nuts making him hunt for something he will never catch?

  2. Laser is a great toy - as long as you don't cast the light in his eyes. Don't worry about his mental health, he has ways of taking care of that. :)

  3. Leela just got a laser and she loves it! (she says HI to Mogley) I get tired before she does! I try to stop it at a point where she will continue to look for it, like at the edge of her carrier or the fort she makes out of the thermal pad she plays under instead of sleeping on. Hoping maybe this will help with her mousing skills come winter.

  4. Mogley says Hi back to Leela(very cute name). So cute about her fort. I was laughing so hard watching him try to get the light. He runs full speed after it but he stays all hunkered down toward the ground at the same time. It's amazing how fast they can move. I'm so glad I got it for him, what a great way to exercise him. Thanks MIU, I'll trying not to worry that I'm creating a cat obsession hehe.

  5. The laser toy is a hit with Lucy Belle. I read about this trick when playing with a laser pointer which I would like to share.

When playing with the laser pointer, it is good to have a start and end to the game. Whip out the laser pointer and shine it onto your palm. Let kitty see where it is, with the red dot sitting on your palm. Then slowly throw the red dot down the floor and let kitty have a good time. When it's time to finish playing, shine the red dot back onto your palm, fold it and store the toy away. This way, kitty knows its game over. Then, just give kitty a treat or two for great sportsmanship.

  8. Thanks for the tip, that makes a lot of sense. I will also try that tonight. Mogley hasn't shown any interest in treats yet though so I think he'll be satisfied with a good head scratch :)

  9. A good head scratch is just as good! And Mogley is just so gorgeous! Umph! Squeeze .... hahahha ... don't mind this crazy TDK auntie ...

  10. Be careful of the spring toy. A coworker bought a similar one for her 13 yo girl, as a present for undergoing thyroid (radioactive iodine) treatment, and she ended up breaking a canine tooth. She had to have it extracted, and sutured up.

  11. Thanks Tuttibella, Mogley doesn't mind squeezes at all :) Lucy Belle is a beautiful young lady and it looks like your BF is doing a fine job feeding Sweet-T and gaining his trust. He looks plump and healthy for a stray cat.
