  1. Hey! Mr. WWM and I have to drive to College Station this weekend. Have any of you in that part of the state found gas shortages or problems finding available gas at filling stations?

Finally the paper here reported the severe shortages in the Atlanta area. We wouldn't want to head out and find there wasn't any gas to be found in parts of Texas.

    Thanks, y'all!

  2. Gas shortage in Texas??? I hate it when they play games in order to drive the price up!!!! WWM I hope your trip goes well, and without any problems..

  3. I'm just checking to try and see if there have been any shortages, 2bp. Most likely not but it's good to know before setting out!

We're going to a football game. It's not going to be pretty......

  4. What game are you going to, WWM? Will it be televised? If so, should I look for you in the crowds, lol? Oh, and who are you rooting for, because if I watch the game, I'll be rootin' with ya!
I've always liked pro football, but hubby and I have been getting into college ball in recent years. Went to bed in the 3rd quarter of MNF; fearful of nightmares from the carnage we had been watching for 2 agonizing hours. (Mr. Farve should look at the color of his jersey before throwing the ball...just sayin') Woke this morning to find it was a total massacre, something like 48-19.

  5. Just checking the web I only see some reports for the Dallas and Houston areas.

If you take the direct route (San Angelo toward Waco then down to College Station) you should be OK. I'd implement the 1/2 tank rule. When the gauge is on 1/2 stop at the first available station (don't be too picky about brand or price). Before leaving make a list of possible stations from Gasbuddy.com in route so you have a master plan.

  6. No problems in the Austin area--we ran a little short when all the refugees were here 10 days ago, but it's all back to normal now.

  7. I haven't seen any shortages in the Dallas area. As a matter of fact. it's down to 3.51 in some area.

  8. It is a bit more after Ike but I haven't seen any places that don't have gas here in Houston. Power?? well that's another story. But for the most part, we have gas to spare here.

  9. WWM, No gas shortages here in beautiful College Station. Prices are about average. Have no idea where you are coming from but, my son-in-law drove from Austin to Plano and back yesterday and today with out any problem. Here is a question....Former student?? or Army??

  10. Hi, Puddytat! Good grief - I completely forgot that you live in College Station! We are coming from Midland. And thanks, everyone for letting me know the current situation.

Well *glances around to make certain that there is no one in maroon sneaking up behind me* we're coming to watch the Army - A&M game. Sadly, we watched Army play that football powerhouse, New Hampshire, a couple of weeks ago and .... *sob* they seem to have forgotten the basics of football. Two years ago Army just almost pulled off the surprise of the century when they very nearly beat A&M in the Alamodome. But, unless a miracle has occurred, I don't think that's going to happen Saturday. And it will be televised (ACK!!!!!) on Versus. We will be among the crowd wearing the black, gray and gold of Army and crying.....

*praying to St. Michael, the patron saint of soldiers, that A&M will be merciful and not completely annihilate the courageous, but really bad, Army team*

  11. No problems here in Waco, WWM. In fact, I saw gas for $3.43 earlier today.

  12. I hate to tell you this, WWM, but Army hasn't had a team since Blanchard and Davis went into active duty.

Now that I've done the double indemnity of 1-disparaging the Army team and 2-assuming that WWM has the experience of years to know who Blanchard and Davis are, I had better run...fast!

  13. WWM, anything could happen. I'm an Aggie '86 and love our football team but we are not so good this year. New coach, new plays and not much experience. Please recall last weekend! Yikes! The good thing is that a football game at Kyle Field is always fun. Of course we always respect the Army folks and hope that we won't get too beat up. Perhaps both teams are on the same level. It is a really long trip from Midland...take care and travel safely.

  14. Gatakitty, as a long time follower of Army football, I will tell you without question that you are completely wrong. And anyone who follows academy football would know that you are wrong. When Coach Sutton was at Army they had the best seasons in the history of Army football. And annually won the Commander's Trophy. But, politics reared its ugly head, Coach Sutton was dismissed and a favorite of a current administration was brought in. And that began the demise of Army football.

Never disparage the Army team unless you know all of the facts. Of course I know the brilliant history of Blanchard and Davis. I have been associated with West Point for over 40 years. But they were in no way the hey day of Army football. If you know a great deal about Army football, then you will know who "Saint Peter" is without me having to tell you.

I am proud of the Army team. While they may not excel on the football field, they do excel on other fields. The ones that each and every American should be proud of and grateful for.

You should know this about the Army fans - we love the team for what the Academy represents. Can Army recruit the way other teams can? No. Because to play for Army you not only have to play football. You have to have a brain. I am so incredibly proud of these young men and women. Frankly, I don't really care what they can do on the football field. I care more about a life time of service that they provide to this nation. Am I biased? Damn right. I am married to one of them.

  15. *yipe, yipe, yipe, yipe, yipe, yipe!*

    Toldja I better run!

Posted 3 years ago by gatakitty #

  16. LOL - yep, Army fans are rabid. And, I am probably one of the most infected. I love those guys. It hurts me to see them with such bad coaching but none the less, I love them. Two of my boys deployed just this week. They were ready to go. That's the field that Army takes.

  17. As rabid as you may be WWM I will always prefer the Air Force!

  18. I love a man in uniform, does that count...? ;-)

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  19. Why yes it does!!!

  20. *Blushes*.

  22. Jcat - what if the man in uniform has pulled you over for speeding?

Posted 3 years ago by KapitiKats in NZ #

  23. KK, sometimes a girl has to get a ticket to meet a man in uniform. Sometimes a girl might even speed on purpose.

(Although, actually, I'm all talk...! Pay no heed...)

Posted 3 years ago by jcat #

  24. I haven't heard of any gas shortages out that way. I have friends in Houston who have been driving out to small towns around College Station to GET gas. But the only places I've heard of that were out of gas have been in the central portions of Houston. Have fun! Don't get any Aggie on you!!!

Posted 3 years ago by lisaeylau #

  25. Actually, Soxmom - anyone in uniform gets my vote for "favorite". You and I know how much they give. And, after all, except for the rare football day, they all play for the same team.

Don't worry, Lisa - no maroon will infect me!!!!

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  26. *notices WWM still hasn't flamed me for insinuating she was alive and aware when Blanchard and Davis were playing and shrugs*

Posted 3 years ago by gatakitty #

  27. Aww, Ginny - you know I love you! *lobs a black, gray and gold pom-pom at Gatakitty and plots revenge for the fact that Gatakitty even suggested such advanced longevity......*

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  28. *peer though wormhole, spies Gatakitty and slings a bottle of Geritol while screeching "INCOMING!!!!"*

Posted 3 years ago by WillowandWindismom #

  29. Now you Texans be nice to one another!!! If Emma see you not playing nice, I'm sure the whack-bonk sticks will be pulled out!!

  30. *kicks sand and mutters an apology....*
