  1. Hi! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the day when I was in grad school @ Rush Medical College I got a B in neurology and was given an ultimatum. Leave or go on Academic Probation and get Academic Counseling. I chose the latter. While in AC I was given hypnosis tapes (yes tapes) to listen to. They were about studying and study habits etc. Apparently it worked as I graduated Summa Cum Laude. I came across some CD's that promote decreasing anxiety (before surgery) and smooth healing (after surgery). I have been doing the decreasing anxiety prior to surgery CD now for a few days and it seems like when I do it it really does help my anxiety level. I have one for the hospital about smooth healing. I have been told I am "highly hypnotic" and take easily to these suggestions. Has anyone else ever done Hypnosis? Did it work? What do you think about it? Just wondering if anyone else had any experience to lend to me.............

  2. MC, I know nothing about hypnosis, but I just had to say whaaaa? You got put on academic probation for a B????

  3. Kilroy, get this! A was 95-100%, B was 90-94%, anything under 90% was an F. You would be asked to quietly go if you got less than a 90%.

  6. Well, over 1500 peeps applied to the school and 5 of us got accepted! LOL It was special, we got to go to the Med School! It was fun, we got inside places I normally wouldn't get to go in a "normal" grad school. Plus I got my own cadaver to cut up! FUN! Ok, here you go, the CD's are from the AlterScape Family of Products. http://www.alterscapeonline.com I ordered them off Amazon. The guy's voice creeped me out at first but once I got used to it, I could relax and I am highly susceptible to hypnosis. I cannot relax either!

  8. I don't know how, but I sure fall into hypnosis easy! If you can let the guys voice "grow" on you, it really seems to work. I will let you know how it works on the "healing" side after surgery.

  9. yes i would be very interested to know how the healing works on you !! i am going to order the "soothing guy voice" and see if he can put me to sleep !! i'll let you know !!

  10. Let me know if it works, I tried it once many years ago but it was one of those mass group hypnosis things and it didn't work. Never have tried one-on-one or tapes to do it. Might actually help with the headaches or so I would think.

  11. I went to a hypnotist once for help with weight loss--I think I'm one of those people who can't be hypnotized 'cause it sure didn't work.

  13. Many years ago, my BIL, who was studying hypnosis, tried it on me and I seemed to have been a good candidate....and it was a very strange feeling, however, now I doubt I could relax enough to go under, but ya never know....yoga seems to really relax me once I get into it. I do think that hypnosis can be beneficial :)

  14. thanks katt, i find yoga does that for me too. but i am BANNED (drat!!) from any or all forms of exercise so that I don't have a stroke before surgery! :(

  15. MollyCat....did you give out the hospital info of where you will be? Oh, wait a minute, I think you said to email you for it....I will do that, so if you see a nascargranny, don't panic :) and wonder what that is! The surgery day will be here and gone before you know it and then you can concentrate on healing!
