  1. I don't know what happened. For several months I have been looking on the Internet for a cat (for Cato as a companion). I saw one I had a strong feeling about so I contacted the rescue organization and I went to see him today. I put down a deposite to adopt him :) I can't take him until Feb. when I begin to work at home....I think he is a good match for Cato. He is a real type B personality. He is a flame-point, part-bred Siamese/Himalayan type with orange ears, light blue eyes, and a whole lot of hair. He looks huge -- they are calling him The Big Kahuna (AKA Kramer)...he has all this white hair, but when you hold him, you realize there is nothing there but fluff. I hope I have not made a mistake, I just did it while part of my mind was wondering if I was nuts. Elizabeth

  5. No cat is ever a mistake. And Cato and Kahuna will sort out who is in charge of what very quickly and be the bestest of buddies! I bet you can't wait until February; I know I would be beside myself with anticipation for the next several weeks. Congrats to you and to Cato and to the Big Kahuna or whatever name he decides belongs to him.

  8. It's no mistake. And I hope you will love him to bits! We once had a flame point himmie that was without doubt the most loving sweet cat we've ever had (and we have had a number of them.) His name was Rusty and all he ever wanted was to be loved! Your Kahuna will be a great companion for you and Cato.

  9. This is great news, Eliabeth. Cato will enjoy the company. I got Milo for Bob and eventhough there's some chasing and fighting, I'm glad I got him a buddy. They DO enjoy eachother.

  12. How wonderful! I think you've followed your heart with The Big Kahuna (aka Kramer) and you can never go wrong with that. I can't wait til he comes home in Feb. Con'cat'ulations to you and Cato! p.s. How's Teddy?

  13. Congratulations. Can you visit Big Kahuna between now and then? If you do you can brush him and take some of his fur back to Cato so he can get use to the smell of his new brother. That should help with the introductions.

  14. My Max is a flame point Siamese and he is truly a gentle (used to be giant before he got sick) one.

  15. I am pretty excited about this guy and hoping there will be a mutual feeling between Cato and Mr. Big (don't know what to call him yet -- don't like Kramer).

Karen: Teddy bruised his heel sometime after Christmas (while I was gone) and I have not been able to ride him for three weeks! I finally pulled off his shoe and have been soaking his foot (he's a nutcase about some basins, so I have had to search around for something he can stand in without freaking out :) It looks like the abscess has come to the surface. His foot is much cooler (except one spot) and he is on antibiotics twice a day....this one is going to cost me. I was going to go to a big horse show (first of the season), but canceled. He has been a trooper though, normally he would be bouncing around in his stall because he is so fit and not having activity is hard on a fit horse. I have been hand walking him and he has been pretty low key.

  16. Cato, I love the name "Mr. Big." Why not stick with it! I haven't even seen this fluff monster, but it sounds like the name would suit him! Congratulations!! It's never a mistake to go with your instincts. That's what they're there for!!!

  19. Every time a kitty has adopted us, I feel a bit of a sense of anxiety and question "have I lost my mind?", "we don't need another kitty"....Within a very short time, we all realize we could not live without each and every kitty we've ever had. Often we have a conversation about all the kitties we've had through the years, not one of them was a mistake, not one of them would we have rather not have had....I am sooo happy for you and Cato also. Can't wait to see pictures and hear about the homecoming.

  20. I love the name "Big K".....

  21. I can't imagine going to the door and yelling out "Come here big Kahuna!"

But then, most of my neighbors do not speak English, so maybe it won't matter to anyone but me :)

I was thinking of calling him Peech (sic), but Mr. Big or Mr. Peech might be nice, although, once again, I cannot imagine calling out "come here Mr. Big!"

Maybe I could just yell "here kitty, kitty" in public.

Yesterday, I just did what I did....today, I am excited. I talked for several seconds to Cato about the change, but he couldn't keep eye contact...I never thought I could have a relationship with another cat.....I must be growing. :) Elizabeth
