  1. I just called Amy and talked to her for about 10 minutes. She sounds WONDERFUL..her voice is very strong, she feels pretty good. The surgeon came in this morning and told her she could possibly go home TOMORROW!! She is very happy about that. She is handling the pain okay..and she should see results with her headaches and feet in a few weeks once the incision starts healing. I told her that she has lots of hugs from TDK and we love her and are thinking and praying for her. She does remember vaguely that Julie was there yesterday, she says she was pretty out of it but she does have a beautiful little package from Julie, so she knows she was there..lol
So people on the call list she is in room 397 bed A...she might be going home tomorrow so you will have to call her cell phone :)
Yeah!!!! Such good news for our girl. I told her she had so many worries and was so nervous and look how good the surgery turned out.

  7. Hooray! Thanks for the update, CM. So happy to hear she's doing well. I hope they don't let her out too soon, though...

  8. That is good news!!! But like Kilroy, I hope that they don't discharge MC too soon. It would be different if there were someone at home to help her, but it's worrisome to think that she would be on her own after such major surgery.

  9. I agree with WWM, it is great she is progressing with her recovery so well but sometimes the hospital is a bit too eager to discharge the patient. Is there anyone who can be MC's advocate with the doctor?

Of course, I am just glad she sounded so strong and all.

  10. Thanks so much, CM, for the update! I just dropped in to see if there was any news. Gotta get back to work now. *little sigh of relief for MC on her way to recovery*

  11. There are advantages adn disadvantages to early discharge. For example, the risk of serious infection is actually less at home than in the hospital, and with brain surgery this is a hugely important issue. I will just pray and trust that the doc will use his best judgement and hope that she is discharged with some aid at home.

  17. Thanks for the update, CM---that is great news--tho I also hope they don't let her out too soon as others have said--wonder if her insurance covers in-home care for a bit to make sure all is really well for first few days.?

  18. Good point, TL, about the possibility of infection. I wonder what her docs have to say about kitty kisses/cat hair?

  19. Thanks, CM! Glad to hear Amy is doing so well. Like everyone else, I share concerns about aftercare with early discharge. Thinking of things like dressing changes, taking meds and daily activities like meal prep and kitty maintenance. If only the girls could cook!

  20. Thank you CM ! Good to hear she is doing so well. I'll add my concerns about home after care. I believe her co-workers were preparing food.... so that should help.

Positive and healing energies continue to flow !

  22. Glad to hear that she sounds well. Seems awfully early to be released though. Just keeping up the prayers that her recovery continues to go smoothly.

  23. Thanks for keeping us updated CM and DM. Didn't MC have home care organised? I thought I read that somewhere, may i didn't.

  24. I thought she mentioned she was going to apply for that, MS!

  25. Yay!.... I sent an email that I would like to switch my call day with someone to before Wed. if possible, I'm always "iiffyy" in the mountains with service... but if no one wants to switch, I will make sure I'm dilligent and get "thru" on my day!.... great news CM!... thanks for the update!

  26. I am to call her on Sunday. I will speak to her again about home care. She didn't have it set up, but I kept reminding her to ask her dr to write an order for home care. I'll try to find out. She definitely would qualify for home care, and I think would benefit from having it.

  27. CM...Thank You so much for the update. God's Speed in her recovery.

  28. WWM....I feel so much better knowing you'll be talking with MC on Sunday. If I haven't mentioned it lately I'll mention it now....YOU'RE SO AWESOME!!! =)

  29. If home health scheduling there is anything like it is here, her doctor needs to order it now, rather than wait for her discharge date. It doesn't do her much good to get discharged with the order, then have to wait 2 days for someone to call and schedule an initial visit which occurs two days after that. If doctor orders it now, the initial visit can be scheduled in hospital or on her first day home.
