Hi Iam new here, but I have a question, I have a new kitten, name is Skyler he s beautiful. But I was told he s seven weeks, and he s on solid food, well first night we had him he tried to poop, was constipated, we stimulated the belly and the butt, went to the bathroom. Wont eat solid food, so we bought kitten milk replacement, fine with that but since last night he wont pee or poop in the litter box. He has his own(we also have a year old main coon)I dont wanna worry but i wanna give him the best care possible. Any advice???

Does he pee and poop at all? it's ok for them to not eat very much for the first few days because they are scared. It's important for you to take him to the vet soon, to make sure he's healthy and to give him his first shots. Mention this stuff to the vet.
Assuming that he is eating (I would suggest tasty wet food) and elminating in inappropiate places, you just need to place him in the litter box soon after he's eaten, and do a digging motion and he should go. If you see him straining, the he's probably constipated and could benefit from some oil in his food. If you see him drinking and not peeing or peeing only a little at a time or if he seems to be in pain when he pees or poops then you need to take him to the vet asap. Also you can place his "accidents" in the litter box so he knows that that is where to go.
Also make sure that the litter box is low enough to him and that he can't stray to far from the litter box.
KMR is good to mix with wetfood to make a kind of gruel. At 7 weeks they shouldn't only be drinking KMR, but it's fine as a suppliment to kitten wetfood.
Also if you attach some pictures of him, we can help you determine if he is indeed 7 weeks old. Could be that the previous owners are lying or don't know his age.

Thank You so much for your response. I will try to post dome pictures as soon as possible. The first night he went and was constipated, then later pooped again just fine. But we have had to feed him only KRM because he wont touch anything else. He peeded yesterday morning, and nothing since. Unless he s peeing somewhere we re not seeing. But He s on the bed now, he wakes up starts meowning I give him milk, he eats plays then falls asleep a little bit. I put him in the litter box when he wakes up, everytime after he eats and in the morning and night. We ve had him for 3 days only. My main coon just today started licking his butt hopefully he ll go soon. But i just wanna make sure he s eating well. Thank you again

Hi, yeah i have a feeling that he s younger. I have had my main coon since she was born, Her name is Akasha. :), and I remember when she went to solid food, it was a smooth transition. I just dont think he s ready for solid food, thats why I think he was constipated. I feel like a mother cat. Everytime he moves or stirs or makes noise iam right there making sure he s okay. I play with him as much as possible. He sleeps on me at night, he looks to be a happy kitten overall, he bites he scratches and he jumps. I am looking over him as much as possible. He s already a part of the family

Beautiful Blue. We were told he s a tuxedo, siamese mix. We met the mother beautiful tiny tuxedo cat. He does look like he still cant focus on something too much. When I call him, he looks at me but responds more to my voice. He looks like he has trouble identifying what he s looking at,like he s still getting used to seeing

Akasha and Skyler - great names. Your cat and kitten both sound beautiful! I had a Maine Coon for 16 years - he was so majestic. Good luck with your little guy.

It sure sounds like your little guy is younger than you were originally told. Now that you have fallen in love with him and aren't about to give him back, can you ask whoever you got him from to try to pin down his birth date? It could be that they were so anxious to find him a forever home that they fudged a little on his age.
KMR can be constipating. You could try adding a little more water to his formula or a few drops of vegetable oil. Keep in mind that when a mama cat licks her babies, she usually swallows any elimination that results (doesn't sound good to me but it's normal for cats).
You may be able to wean him by slowly adding canned kitten food to his formula. If it's mashed up good so it can get through an enlarged hole in the nipple, he'll start getting a taste for solid food. If you aren't bottle feeding him, then you can try putting the wet food in the saucer and adding the KMR to the top. Pretty soon Skyler will be eating both the canned food and the KMR. Then you can slowly increase the food and decrease the KMR. I never heard of a grown cat who will only eat KMR so rest assured that he will eventually become weaned. Until then, you are creating a great bonding with him.

Thank You very much for the word of advise, yes I will call so I can find out the exact date of birth. But he is absolutely part of this family now, I would never give him back or give him away. No matter how difficult it may be, or how little sleep I get. :). Its all worth it, I love to watch him play and jump all over the bed. My main coon, Akasha has gotten used to him already the only thing is that she plays with him still a little too rough so I dont leave them alone in the room, if I must leave the room I take her out. I know in time she'll calm down. She knows that we love her as much as him, that will never change. She is not a replacement. I am so very glad to report his bathroom visits are regulsr now. He's peeing and pooping normally. And just this morning he drank a little bit of milk, didnt want anymore, so I took some kitten food, wet it and he ate the food. I'am so so so happy. He drank some food, and now he's playing.
