Rescued Kitten
Location: Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, USA

I’m submitting this story for a friend of mine with his permission. He is a volunteer fire fighter and a cat lover. A link to his company’s website entry about this rescue is here. Here is his story:
“While we were out giving out candy to the Trick-Or-Treaters a call came in to station about a trapped cat at Stouffers (Country market). When we got there we saw that a kitten fell about 10 feet down a PVC pipe. Several attempts were made to use a hook under the kitten but after getting about half way up the kitten would fight with the hook and fall back down. We then decided to dig. We dug about 4 feet down and cut off the pipe to the bottom of the hole we dug. We tried again a few times while digging and finally when the kitten appeared to attack the pole it looked to be trying to climb the pole itself. When the kitten reached the top I grabbed it and cleaned it off from the shavings of PVC from sawing through pipe. There were employees of Stouffers there with a kitty carrier. The kitten was so scared it bit me several times and those needle like teeth went completely through my glove! Regardless, it is very cute! This is the third or fourth cat I have rescued or helped rescue… I have been dubbed the Cat Whisperer at the firehouse.”

Mulder
Location: St. George, Ontario, Canada

Introducing “Mulder” (AKA Fox Mulder from the X-Files). I lost my beloved cat Skoalie this year due to Cancer, she was 14. I was so heartbroken, and the house was so empty. I couldn’t believe how strong the feeling was that something was missing, and life was not the same. A few weeks after losing Skoalie, I was driving around my neighborhood & my mom and I spotted a sign “Beautiful kittens for sale $5.00”. I couldn’t just drive by, and I had to take a look. I saw this adorable face I couldn’t resist, and took him home right away. Mulder is blessing, and we know a house is not a home without a cat! Best $5.00 I ever spent!

Zooey
Location: St Louis, Missouri, USA

She’s the princess of our three kittens who we found in our garage this summer. Our family decided to take the feral kittens in (along with their mother) and try to find them homes, but we didn’t figure we’d fall in love so hard with this girl here (and her sister, behind her - we’re smitten!). Zooey’s a bit of a priss- she’ll climb on top of her two siblings and chew on their ears when she wants them to pay attention to her. Our other cat, Oliver (1 1/2 years old and quite handsome in his own right), loves to lick her forehead and her tiny white paws. When she purrs, it’s almost deafening. Really. Cancels out all other noise entirely. She’s such a cute little thing, and seems to have the “sad, kitten eyes” look perfected. They slept in our sink for weeks together, curled up in little balls. Loved it!

Obi
Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, USA

As he is named after Obi-Wan Kenobi and Obama his full name is Obi “That One” Kenobi Winkler. He is seven weeks old. We got him from a friend whose Mom has a farm in PA where people drop off unwanted critters.

Ariel
Location: Vashon, Washington, USA

Ariel is a Silver Exotic and an only kitten. She was born quite tiny so I called her my little Peanut Kitty. Her mom adores her and tries to hold her as close as she can, but now Ariel is getting bigger… all of four weeks and starting to explore. She loves trying to run (which results in a lot of tumbles) and playing with her toys which all seem to be too big for her! She is brave and adventuresome for an only kitty, but that just makes her all the more loveable.

Gigi
Location: Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA

This is Gigi. She was dropped off with me when she was tiny, 3 oz. and maybe 5-7 days old. I bottle fed her and she’s a big strong one year old now, but her kitten pix still just steal my heart. She was using the litter box and eating out of the food dish at one month. In this picture, she has just learned how to get up in the window sill. She’s beaming with pride! LOL! She’s smart and knows how to fetch a ball and give high five! We love her to pieces!
