Pounce!!!
Come on over Riley. Let’s play!
He’s living the life of Riley. I had a cat like that.I miss her greatly.
Riley is growing up and being a little wild man as all boy kittens are (and many girl kittens too). Give him time to grow up and he’ll be your lap kitty. Bet he is already a love bug when you can catch him being still. Riley is the cutest kitten. Give her many snuggles and loves – when he slows down enough to be caught ^..^.
Should have been. “Give her many snuggles and loves – when he slows down enough to be caught ^..^”. He is a true cutie!
One: He’s adorable! Purr! Two: Age old saying: You never own a cat, they own you! Seems like Riley knows this and lives by it! 🙂
What a cutey….enjoy the shennagigans while you can, couple years he’ll probably develop some dignity.
Once he’s neutered and gets to be about a year old, he’ll be a dream cat! He’s just expressing his pure joy at being alive and loved…..join in !!!
I too wanted a lap cat for my 2nd, and was assured that the 4-month old I was adopting was just that. WRONG! As it turned out she is the little clown and mischief-maker of the family, and I have gotten more laughs and good stories out of her antics. She was not what I “wanted” but was totally worth it. Hang in there & try to find a silver lining. BTW, Riley is devastatingly handsome.
Riley is very handsome! His markings are quite striking. Hopefully after he’s neutered he will settle down. He will still be kittenish and a bundle of energy, but I hope for you that he comes to your lap when he’s ready to snuggle and nap.
Riley looks like he is waiting for room service to bring him dinner! I’ve had “trouble kitties” too, but they are always worth it!
Riley sounds like quite a handful…I found out the hard way that kittens only become lap cats after several years! My hubby wants a couple of kittens, but I just can’t do that to my adult guys and gals…I agree that when he is “fixed” he will probably calm down. But, try to enjoy his antics as you will miss them after they are over! Chin Scritches to Riley and his crabby little face 🙂
I have to agree – “trouble kitties” are always worth it. We have one – in our store – and she’s a terror. Not at all what I would have wanted for a store kitty, but she’s her own Purrson. Affectionate with people on her terms only and mostly just not, but boy am I smitten. I suspect you will fall very deeply in love with your little rascally Riley – and he should definitely settle down but it takes time. Enjoy ^.^
maybe once pretty Riley is neutered, he’ll calm down a little? Some cats just have very active personalities, I think may be he just needs more intensive playtime than most! 🙂
Please don’t give up on Riley. A kitten is a handful and full of energy. Make sure he gets fixed and he will calm down after awhile. Give him plenty of love and attention; he’ll turn into your dream cat in no time.
Riley may be all riled up for he is so excited to be part of a furever home. He just needs to grow up a bit with your luving care & guidance. Concats Riley with your lively catitude for you are our Star-kit today at TDK!
Riley is an adorable kitty, he looks like he’s planning his next caper. He’ll calm down as he matures. Love his coloring. Great baby picture.^ ^
I love Riley’s expression-cogito parḗbis (I think you will obey)! He really is a darling boy. Usually, little guys start to settle down after neutering and within a couple of years. It’s challenging as Riley is his own kittah but loves you and his family very much. Patience!
It can take some time for a new cat to feel completely comfortable in their new homes, and until they do, sitting on your lap feels risky to them. We adopted a senior cat who was very calm and affectionate, and it still took her over six months to feel safe enough to sit on laps. (Now we can’t get her to stop!) It can take longer for a kitten, since all that kitten energy makes it harder for them to sit still at all.
In the meantime, let him be affectionate on his own terms. Appreciate every face-bump, pet him when he slows down (our other cat likes to be petted while she’s eating), etc. And keep in mind that just sitting next to you is affection too – it’s a sign that he likes you and wants to be near you. In our house, we call that “proximity snuggling”.
Be patient, I have a brat cat but I see her settling down, that is after she washes the windows, TV screen and polishes the entertainment center. They just want attention.
I like the way he matches your furniture!!
He is so cute!!! That’s why he gets away with everything right??
Speed Racer FUZZ
Future lap FUZZ
Riley’s Mom:
He’ll be out of the ‘kitty crazys’ in just a few short months. Enjoy him while you can! Next year, he’ll be a lap cat, and you’ll be telling people stories about “When he was little, he (swung from the curtain rods like a monkey, or whatever)” and you’ll smile and stroke his fur. Value these days with him, even though he’s annoying.
He is cute.
Joy de vivre FUZZ
The kind of trouble you want FUZZ
Riley/Brat goes a hundred miles an hour when you get home because he is very excited to see you, extremely happy. Much of his behavior is (misguided) appealing for your attentions. Granted some of his antics will be simply kitten energy, which he may have even after age 1, at least in spurts, and may be channeled with interactive play toys that include your attention (eg fishing poles and fetch toys).
