This is our latest, Desiree. We didn’t adopt her, she adopted US. Earlier this spring, we went outdoors to add food to the outside kitty feeding station, and there she was.
She began to talk to us, expressing initially her displeasure at not having anything to eat. 🙂 After feeding her, she wandered out of the feeding station and began talking to us again, this time she wanted some attention/affection. She was purr-eowing so loud it was quite amazing.
We petted her and made sure she was OK. She went and laid underneath a cover we have over our basement doorway.
The next day, she was still there, and wandered up to greet us. We decided at this point we would take her to the vet for a quick check up and some shots.
The vet assured us that she was healthy and gave her the rabies and another combo shot. We also asked her to see if kitty was pregnant.
The ultrasound didn’t show anything, so we took her home. We tried to let her go outside, but she INSISTED on coming in, and within a few hours, it was as if she’d always been here.
Our concern about her pregnancy remained, however, so a couple weeks later, after noting that she was eating quite a lot, we took her in for a second ultrasound, and to see if she had worms.
The new ultrasound showed 3 KITTENS!. It seems that our intuition beat out technology, and we are quite happy that we will have some brand new babies in a few weeks to watch grow. Color us happy.
And Desiree is a jewel. She’s the happiest of cats, and seems to love all her furry siblings. She has the most even disposition (knowing new mama’s as I do, I’m sure that will change soon, at least in the short term)
Tom is the owner of 4 amazing cats, and using the Daily Kitten he provides a place for cat and kitten lovers to share the love for their own cats and kittens.
what kind cat lovers you are to take in this sweet little calico kitten, and to help her have her little family to boot. Cats sometimes just seem to know who the good humans to adopt are! May you have many happy years with your little furry tribe 🙂
What a great story! Desiree was so smart to pick you!! I hope you’ll post a photo of the kittens when they arrive.
Desiree looks very happy with you. I wonder if she was once an indoor kitty who got abandoned. Well she’s in good hands now. I hope we get to see pictures of the new kittens!
Miss Desiree’s cat lover radar was spot on! Miss Desiree knew exactly where her hoomins lived and came over to share her babies. We THINK we adopt them..foolish hoomins! Thanks for giving all your fur babies a loving home. Many happy times ahead.
What a wonderful story! Desiree looks as if she’ll be a lovely mother. Very smart of her to choose exactly the right family. Please share pictures of the kittens when you can.

Everyone was so enchanted with this happy story they forgot to Pounce! on the gorgeous Desiree. She’s a smart kitty – knew she wanted a great furrever home where she could safely have her kittens. I wish you all many years of great health & happiness.
We all pounced in our hearts!!!
I too hope we will see pictures of the kittens when they are ready for their debut. Desiree looks very intelligent. I agree with JasonInIllinois, she could have been an indoor kitty since she became comfortable so fast indoors. ^ ^
Desiree is such a beautiful girl! I’m so glad she found you. I bet she’ll be a wonderful mom to the kittens. Please do share their photos with all of us. Bless you for having such a big, squishy heart.
Yes, I think she belonged to humans. Dear young mummy cat – looking forward to the wee ones.
I was adopted that way once. She was the best cat in the whole wide world. I think these are really angels. You are very lucky indeed.
What a sweet kitty & sweet ppl you are to take her in. I’m sure she’s more comfortable in the house than outside. She feels more secure. I hope the best for her and the kittens on the way.
Quite the puss!!!
Sweet kitty. It’s wonderful when THEY pick YOU.
I found out with Tigeranne that a kitty can be pregnant even if there are no kittens in her yet. I had an ultrasound done on her before her spay and there were no kittens in her. The vet told me that the condition of her uterus nevertheless suggested early pregnancy. Because Tigeranne had given birth two months previously, and there were no kittens there, I had her spayed. After the operation, the vet said that Tigey “wasn’t as far along” as the vet had thought, but she was “in the earliest stages” of pregnancy.
If the ultrasound had turned up any kittens, though, I wouldn’t have had her spayed and the babies would probably be coming right about now.
What a beautiful & smart girl! She knew who her human was. Thank you for giving Desiree a loving home.
My furkids & I wish you & your furkids many happy, healthy years. =^..^=
PS- Please keep us posted on the kittens!
Thank you for sharing Desiree’s story. She is such a beautiful kitty! A true jewel.
